Im a winter baby and I hate hate hate it too. Dont care if it was hot today - I went to ave tea with a friend and her house was freezing - wish I had kept my long johns on by the time 5.30 came around - I dont think she feels the cold at all.
I was slihtly worried by the wolves from Norway comment - does it sound like 'hot' or 'lighter than air' to anyone else?
On way home splurged £10 on an enormous snuggly fleece throw as Lidl didnt have a single 9.99 blanket left - but hey - what's 1p between friends! I was glad I went in tho' as they have Stollen, its even better than Waitrose's so I grabbed a couple in order NOT to get told of like last year by kids (truly Waitroses were awful and of course expensive )

rising from the ashes sounds very like the one I bought. Re it being smaller than a garden spade, when it arrived I couldn't think what it was, it was in such a small packet. I've tucked it into the carrier bag in my boot with the de-icer, jump leads etc. :)

Rainy-Days the folding shovel I got has a pointed front so hopefully it will get a grip under most snow :)

Have just finished my radiator deflectors, made with a huge cardboard box a wardrobe came in (donated by DD), about 1/8 of a roll of bubble wrap bought on that auction site for £5, a part roll of kitchen foil and some brown parcel tape. I've made 6, probably cost me no more than £2.50p :)

I was born in one of the hottest Julys of the century, on the morning of my birth my DM was sitting in the garden eating a huge bowl of porridge. I just love the heat, should emigrate somewhere warm for the Winters, but I can't abide porridge!

Re stollen, Lidl's comes from northern Europe where it originated which is why I think it's the best. I've tried many others and they don't come anywhere close :)

I swear my ancestors must have viking blood in them.:)

More than likely - especially if your ancestors come from what was the Danelaw. I have Viking ancestors, but don't like the cold. Mind you I don't like too much heat either!

Turgin I thought the whole "ice age/wolves" post was at the best tongue in cheek

Question for space blanket users - I have 2 curtains at my front door and 2 at a door sized window at the back of my house. These are unlined - at least I've got curtains this year after many years of not having them at these places :) Would the £land type blankets be functional as linings? Not bothered about appearance - not overlooked at the back and the front door is largely solid with just 2 long thin mostly coloured glass panes in the top half. It's whether they actually make a difference that counts. Ta.

By the way, I know I've said it before, but having a very young puppy and living on my own is keeping me pretty housebound ATM - my winter prep food/cleaning stock is proving very useful and I have in fact decided to stay at this level of preparedness pretty much all the time from now on. That will cover me for an illness, drop in income, etc at all times.

ETA another question - are radiator reflectors useful behind all radiators or only ones on outside walls?

I AM from Viking decent and I still freakin hate the cold!!! I could cheerfully hop on a plane and disappear for 4 months over the winter period.

However.... Did I mention my new Rabbit Fur coat from ebay? < chuckles because i've been banging on about it on here! > I am quite looking forward to being able to wear it... Its wayyyyyyyy too warm atm... I think it would have to be pretty cold for me to be able to wear it as its roasty toasty!!! (and soft, and gorgeous and I LOVE it!!!)
Take it your pleased with your coat then:D:D

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I keep meaning to mention this on our thread....

The obsession with hoarding toilet rolls!!!

Correct me if I am wrong... But didn't that start with the rise in VAT? Because loo roll is VATable, we all got loads before the VAT rise came about... But it seems to have snowballed and become a commen topic on this thread!!!
