Preparing for winter II

I can't believe I forgot to mention this to you all.
You might want to consider getting some of those part baked rolls in to sink in your freezer. They are absolutely ideal especially during a winter. Just been out to the freezer for a quick scout around to see what needs to go on the shopping list and they were in there.
Used them between us as a roll for soups, I also took these to work with me with fillings and they make a decent lunch as well. They are great for freezers because they don't take up too much room and I think there is something special about getting them out of the oven when they are all hot, crisp and smelling lovely. I tend to get mine from Aldi and the wholewheat from Sainsburys, but you can pick them up anywhere, just a really great store standby.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

I'm with you 100%. I live on my own and wouuld move out rather than get within yards of the things. There was one in my bedroom recently - in my bed no less, found it when I threw the duvet back to get into bed  - I slept on the sofa for three nights. I can cope with small ones but the big ones make me feel physically sick. I really feel for folk who can't even go near little ones. Will have to look into chestnut oil but I don't know if I have much faith in anything ever getting rid of them.

Yep - I'm afraid that if I found one in my bed like that, I wouldn't be able to sleep comfortably in it for ages.
When I put shoes or wellies on in the months when we are swamped with them, I always throw the shoe hard down on the floor to dislodge any beastie which may have crawled inside... Then the shoes are carefully watched for a few seconds to see if anything crawls out! When my muck boots come out of the shed this time of year, a helpful friend has to check them to make sure nothing has moved in!
I also don't buy into this argument that spiders 'get rid' of flies... Obviously they do eat some... but not enough of them to make a difference to me.
Smaller ones are sucked up my new spider vacuum and deposited outside but i'm afraid those mouse sized ones are off to meet their maker once they come across me :eek:0 -
I've got to share this with you all..
MY RABBIT COAT HAS ARRIVED!!!!
It is absolutely gorgeous - I have always wanted a fur and despite getting it second hand from ebay, its no compromise as its almost as good as new! Its exactly what I have always wanted - perfect condition and fits like a glove!
Not a bad purchase for a tenner :T:T:T0 -
Thank you ever so much for posting this. Was looking at these today at Dunelm (only plain ones though) and they were fab but too dear. I've just ordered two of the animal print ones:) Order does say yellow though so not sure if it's a glitch.
I've had an email to say my order has been cancelled as they can't get the stock:( Has anyone else who ordered them had the same? Asking as they're still available on the website:mad:0 -

I feel for you, must be horrible to have such a phobia - however with some black garlic butter or rosemary they make a lovely winter snack or supper.
Seriously, I crush used eggshells finely and scatter it round the flower beds and edges of the garden, and I don't get snails or slugs. They hate anything sharp so won't go on them.0
