I need to stock up on herbal tea, I get the normal tea, coffee and hot chocolate whenever there are good offers on at the supermarket but I havnt seen a decent deal on herbal tea for ages, has anyone seen any?

I like green tea and most blends but the calming ranges are my favorite such as spiced apple and camamile, honey, lemon and ginger etc.

Re: thermal socks - I was in Poundland today and bought 2 pairs of thick Camping Socks 2 prs £1 to use with my walking boots which are a bit loose at the heel. They also had thermal socks in the mens sock bit - looked like they'd fit women too - also 2prs £1.

At least it was a nice animal, I left my doors open recently and went in with the polish to hear & then spot a HUGE furry beast. He was having none of leaving and I eventually got rid after 2 hours when he decided he didn't like the sound of the hoover:eek: Admittedly, at that stage the only constructive thing that I had done was closed the living room door so there was only one way out and then sat with my feet well off the floor:D

The same wasp came in at least 6 times. He was on a mission, or im going barmy. At one point i thought hed stung the bairn so i had the bairn in one arm trying to comfort him and using the other to swat the damn thing.

2 washes just in off the line, not quite dry so there on the airer. Got another load in because LO took it upon himself to pour jojoba oil down him and his nice new jumper

Went on the hunt for a fleece for the car and found one in Store 21 - I think that's what it's called - 180cm x 250cm for £6. It's a bright red so should be able to be spotted in the snow
  • It is always a good idea to have extra food and water on hand throughout the year, but you really need to stock up in the winter. If you are without power, you will need food that is nonperishable. If you don’t have at least one or two months of supplies on hand, now’s the time to start getting them together. You also need to remember to keep a non-electric can opener on hand so you can open canned goods in the event of a power outage. Stock up on plenty of dried and canned goods such as nuts, trail mix, and tuna and if you have pets, make sure you have an extra supply of pet food for them as well.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best bedding to buy? When I do move out, I will have none to my name (apart from a few blankets) so want to have a think about that and what to buy. Clearly, with Winter fast approaching, I'll need something to keep me warm with no one else's body heat helping out. Any suggestions for types/styles/places to buy would be fantastic.

Another request, if anyone spots any cotton cardigans or tracky type tops without hoods could they post about them. I'm allergic to wool and acrylic, so have problems finding layers for Winter and two of my cardi's have holes now.

In other news, we've broken the news to our parents. My Mum was panicking about what I'll do, but I hope I've managed to reassure her and my Dad was just sad for me. The ex's parents reacted the same, but it was his Dad who was panicky and also who blamed my ex and called him useless :( with support like that it's no wonder he suffers from depression.

I finished all the waterproofing and painting of the house today. It looks so lovely now, however the important thing is that the weather can't penetrate the brickwork this winter. Wish I could afford a new roof too, but that's beyond my means. I have cleaned the inside of my 2 boys windows and applied the bubble plastic to those. This weekend I start my curtains-decided I needed to give myself longer than the 6 hours peace get on a school day when my youngest is out of the house! He is off with his dad this weekend so I have 2 full days to take my time and do them carefully. Quite excited!
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

I think our local council are getting prepared for winter.

Either that or they know something about the weekend's weather thatI don't. Yesterday, on the way to take my car to its MOT test, a gritter lorry with a snowplough on the front drove past me in the opposite direction.

It looked nice and new & clean, so am assuming (hoping) it wasn't for immediate use, but to get ready for the winter!

I've recently read in a local paper that Aberdeen has had it's salt delivery and it's the most they've ever had. They're also expecting another delivery of 6000 tonnes in November
