Hey Annie that looks fabulous and so cheap too - doesnt say how you fix it up altho' the unbelievably cheery lady in the add looks as if she is just pressing it against the window frame and waiting for the magic to happen!! This will be on my list for the warm weather. However I cannot stress enough that I really do not want the window open, even just a crack, all night. Its not good for my asthma and we are in a frost pocket. I think I will have to go for a window quilt to up the insulation and may be leave the door open a wee bit.debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0

Have spent a vert sticky day with some blackberries. Disastrous attempt at jelly - all potted up and feeling smug. Well, it's a painful condition when your smug face starts to crumble as the 'jelly' cool and its plain to see that in fact you now have 4 jars of blackberry syrup. All had to be put back in pan and re boiled and jars washed and sterilised. More or less same story with the bramble cheese - what has happened to my natural preserving skills??????? ANy way after what seems like an eternity I have some jars of something in the cupboard - dont think this has been my finest hour!!
don't feel bad tugrin, my first attempt at hedgerow jelly turned into many many jars of hedgerow cordial, can't be used for quite the same purposes but tasted great just the same! at one point i even got my daughter hooked on porridge with a swirl of it so that's no bad thing right?0 -

I was lucky enough to find one on Ebay a few months ago. in fact, I am wearing it right now.
I leave it at our caravan as it's great for wearing on cold evenings and early mornings. It has a hood and is very soft and snug. The label says "cozy up".:)Felines are my favourite

try rosehip syrup to boost your vitamin c and you can give the wee one it as a juice to help boost his immune system
http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2006/oct/21/recipes.dessert
and/or a spoonful of malt and cod liver oil - the old fashioned ones are the best!!!!
i read something the other day saying that rosehips contain something that helps reduce swelling for those with arthritis so i'm def going to be collecting rosehips year. already had plans to do so but if i can get the vitamin c boost AND something else to reduce inflamation without drugs i'm happy :T0 -

I can second NOT leaving windows open if you live in a very cold area in winter. Breathing in cold air does more harm than good if you have conditions like asthma and bronchitis. But what about a dehumidifier Tugrin? I used to have one and it was fab for keeping the air dry and even helped warm the place up, probably because no damp was lying around."Ignore the eejits...it saves your blood pressure and drives `em nuts!"0 -
I hang my head in shame, i haven't done any winter prep at all i'm so sorry.
However I am going to town this afternoon for my annual trip (I hate shopping) which has a poundland and stretcher is there anything I should get whilst there??? As I really don't want to have to go backI have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. Target 12/2020 :rotfl:

coming out of lurking mode
I read a report very recently that said the big danger of leaving bedroom windows open at night in winter is that your head gets cold and according to medical research this can cause a stroke or heart attack. The body temperature being higher and the cooling effect as the blood goes through your neck.
My mother was convinced that my Dads last stroke was caused by his neck getting cold while they waited for a bus.Sue
Do I need to eat it
Can I afford the calories:eek:
have I checked for a lower calorie version:T0 -

It should come with sticky backed velcro, stick it around the window and the mesh attaches to it. To access the window pull up mesh from a corner, open window and put mesh back
We have it on my bedroom window as I like a window open all night all year round and I worry about spiders coming in0 -
Mornin Red Doe - what kind of dehumidifier do you use as I am a complete novice in that area wen I lived in condesation-y and damp properties they hadn't really begun to hit the markets. ow's is going up there? I remember when we lived on the slopes of the Pentlands and could see the Moray Firth, as soon as September started I could say good bye to my attempts at runner beans _ afraid that was one reason why I lifted up my cissy southern skirts and headed back down over the border. That and te fact that everyone in Edunburgh simply hates the English (with many good reasons) but difficult to live with.
I was going to do more jam making today - you see it's the village horticultural show on Saturday and I adore things like that - did I tell you Red Doe that I once won the Tablet category in our Scottish village - the ladies were not amused. I HAVE to have something to enter!!!! |Its either plum jam or nip out and get a few more rosehips to try for the 'Hedgerow Beverage@ category - what do you uys think? I won te tomato category last year - no cance with that this year tho'.debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0
