Preparing for winter II

Kids needs new fleecy pjs and im definitely buying myself an all in one from primani ( though dh is not happy about this).
Wouldn't these be absolutely horrid if you had to go to the loo in the night, having to strip your top off to get the bottoms down...? Makes me shiver just thinking about it!
Welcome btw, I have steadfastly refused to think about winter before September but found this thread a real mine of useful tips last year, and still have many to implement for this winter.0 -
well thats the tatties lifted and in cardboard boxes for the winter, beetroot lifted but still to be made into chutney, parsley dried and in jars, need to get the rhubard pulled and made into jam or frozen. really beginning to feel inadequate as have no stock of loo roll!!!!!!!! but will get that seen to this week, i buy the tesco stuff at £1.99 for 9 rolls - quilted and doesnt disintegrate! busy week ahead so wont get much else done this week.
WOT! no secret stash of loo roll! Goodness woman you're letting the whole side down, have you been busy or something?:rotfl:0 -

They are wonderfully well lined and I am very impressed by them. I liked them so much that OH offered to buy me a pair for Christmas, but the sizing is 4/5 or 6/7 and I would need a 5/6. Can anyone recommend any other snow boots?
Last years, I bought these:

They were recommended by lots of folk on MSE O/S and they are usually reduced to £20 later in the year. These boots have been a WONDERFUL purchase...very cosy and warm, waterproof too. Really glad that i've got them for this coming winter!

I need to get the rest of the garden harvested and replanted out for the winter there is sooo much to get in and preserve,I'm not complaining but my kitchen looks like Beirut :rotfl:
Yes, my kitchen looks like that too! Piles of empty jars, colanders full of tomatoes, beans etc. waiting for me. The more I do the more there is to do. If anyone visits, it looks like a scruffy cottage industry unit.
Can't see it improving in the next week or two either. :rotfl:0 -
Day one of my plan & it's chucking it down. :mad:Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

have a lovely day here so the washing is all dry - think I will sit out for a while and dream of the winters to come:rotfl:
you're more than welcome, i think you'll really like it, it's sooo easy and my rice always comes out just right once i figured out how long it needs to cook for (i had to play around since i was using brown rice or white rice with stuff in it) once you get the right time it works the same everytime, something i can't say for my on the cooker rice attempts
we had a lovely day yesterday, sadly it's grey and rainy today, i'd planned on doing laundry and going foraging but that will just have to wait i suppose0 -

Good Morning
It was down to 10 degrees outside last night and horro of horros there was condensation on my bedroom windo this morning! Now I do realise that this is a daily occurence for many of us and indeed I have lived in many a house that needed towels on the window ledges and regular wiping down - but what Im worried about here is that Im supposed to have these all-singing-and-dancing double glazed windows and they didnt do this last year Is it the brand spanking new loft insulation wich has very definitely lifted the upstairs temperature? Have the seals gone? I havent done the bubble-wrap tango yet - will this help? HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Apart from that emergency - hope everyone has a really positive start to the week - well done us for prepping as the weather forecast is not nicedebt free 2021 at current DMP rate[/COLOR] (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0
