D'you know the more I think about it. the more I'm cinvinced I have been ever so slightly taken for a ride by the sweep -£50 for slightly less than half an hours work rather shddily done (did I mention the hearth wasn't actually terribly clean when I went to look?) Or maybe Im just very jealous that Im in the wrong job - even allowing for travelling £50 an hour is a pretty damn good rate - I now when a colleagur worked out what teachers actually earn per hour (and yes I know we get long holidays but most work close to a 50 hour week in term time and some days in holidays where I am) - any way it was pretty pathetic when you consider it as a single income to bring up two kids.
Asks self - shall I retrain - how about chimney sweep and lawn mower reapairs????debt free 2021 at current DMP rate[/COLOR] (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0 -

havent achievd anything completely but have been plodding along with bits and pieces - have managed to order pipe roses of ebay so thats a tiny start!!! and have a few more bits in my stock pile but forgot to get loo rolls after giggling at all of you and being glad I wasnt the only one with problems sometimes and realising I am not totally mad having a huge supply in - I go and forget when I was out today - you can bet your life they are on thursdays list!!!
Have also been looking at curtains and material as the huge velvet curtains that I have in the living room belong to the LL and she wants them - they were only left as they were prevously selling the house before I rented it. so I need to find replacements PDQ and there hasnt been anything in the CS so will prob have to use my birthday money next month for material and make some. was hoping to buy decent boots but the house will have to come first.Peace will be mine
could do better - must try harder

Tooti - I might have mentioned this a while back but, oh years ago now, about 10 at least, I went into Barratts shoes in Coventry during the post Christmas sales and in there they had a lone pair of Just Sheepskin.com boots in my size. At the time they didn't look very fashionable but they were a good price reduced down from £55.00 to £19.00 and they were in the right size. Well for a few years they were in the back of the cupboard unused. I even thought they looked unfashionable, then the Uggs hit and they looked in vogue. For these last four years they have been a boon and they have kept my feet and ankles beautifully warm. I have reproofed them again this year and although they have a few marks on them they are, by and large, still looking good. I have brushed them with my suede brush and kept them neat. Some of the rubber around the edges is slightly brittle and odd bits have come away but I am sticking with them and if I need to I will find someone who will repair them - it's a long way form that yet.
The ode to this story is this, that for something I bought on a whim, that was more functional and not particularly good looking has come full circle into an item that has proved its worth. Some of the sheepskin.com boots are over £100.00 now so wow what a bargain I got. Last month I bought a pair of Emu boots off Amazon and I am so pleased with those. I was looking at them on QVC at £252.00 plus P&P of £6.99, but there was no way I could afford that - and I wouldn't on princple. I saw the exact same ones on Amazon for £110.00 including P&P and if I get as much use out of these as my justsheepskin ones it is money well spent. It's more about looking after and protecting what you have got. If you leave your stuff to get marked and kicked around then it won't last so long. I intend to keep my stuff and make it last as long as I can - a lifetime if I can get it. Then for every single wear I have it really comes down to pennies per use and then it becomes a bargain!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Read this thread every day adding to my list, but I never seem to get anywhere doing things! Did get dishwasher salt delivered this evening from tesco, so thats a start I suppose.
Its really quite chilly here tonight but we never usually have the heating on until mid to the end of October, could really do with it now, but given the rising costs a fleece blanket and hot water bottle will suffice! DGS who is two has discovered my wind up lantern and has claimed that for going to his bed to read his book. He is fascinated with turning the handle and then the light come on!
I think this year my summer vest tops will double up as thermal vests, rather than being put away in the hope that we get a summer next year.Every days a School day!0 -

Now there's an idea! I need a new dressing gown, so when I get one (maybe for Christmas) I might just cut down the one I've got.At one point I lived in a caravan. Not only did I have a sleeping bag under the sheet, and another one next to the wall, but I had one over the duvet plus a blanket, and slept in thermals, socks, a fleece and a hat... Nothing seems cold after that!
That reminds of when I was growing up. My parents ran a hotel which was an old Victorian building with no double glazing (and quite a bit of subsidence so the windows didn't fit properly) and no central heating. In the winter there was ice on the insides of the windows . I used to go to bed wearing a t-shirt and leggings, and over the top of that I would wear a sweatshirt and jogging trousers. Sheets and blankets (quite a few!) with two quilts. It was bloomin' freezing - you could see your breath.0 -
