Well, I've not done much today apart from wash half of my fleeces. I live in them as soon as it gets cold and luckily can wear them for work as well. Hoping that the weather is better on Thursday so I can get my others and also jumpers washed on my day off.

The chimney has been swept today and I also remembered I bought a Slanket when Amazon had them cheap.

Also, found a pair of warm Craghopper trousers I'd bought a few years ago when we visited Krakow but they're far too big for me now. Always were but look ridiculous now. Only worn them two or three times as well:(

:wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:arrrrgggggh, knew it! Thanks! (I was nearly there)....

Just had a thought! As we have all observed a bit of a nip and are mostly reluctant to put the heating on, could we get away with putting it on based on the fact that it is recommended to test it before the winter? :D And it would be MSE as it would be doing 2 things at once:o

:rotfl::rotfl:great idea - seriously... I remember when I tried to put mine on last year (mid October time I think) and I turned it on and nothing happened:eek:. Boiler was fine (as had hot water) but no matter what I did (radiators right up, thermostat up to some ridiculous temp) the boiler wouldn't fire for the heating.

After several calls to DF and even more digging around on a very male DIY forum - I was advised to "wallop" the pump next to the tank as it'd probably seized up .... with much trepidation, I did and it worked!

All my radiators are turned off but the valve on one doesn't quite shut off - I was going to get it looked at however it's been on a couple of times (just faintly warm & thermostat set to come on at 16 deg:eek:) so I've just left it to hopefully stop it seizing again.

It struck me last night as I got ready for bed - we take off a nicely layered set of clothing appropriate for the season and temperature in our houses and put on these ridiculous t-shirt material, totally inadequete garments instead. Ok I know we are then going to dive into a duvet-laden bed BUT I quite like to read and preferably not under the duvet with a torch - why are the tops of juimjams Sooo flippin' useless - often short sleeved and short in the body.

That's where bed jackets come in handy. I know, I know, they've got a bit of a 'granny' reputation, but who's going to see you? :D I'm going to make myself one as I like to read in bed too.

I went in to a Matalan today to see if they had fleecy pjs and was frankly appalled at the lack of anythinf remotely cosy. Note to self - what IS the point of Matalan?

Tesco have ladies fleecy pj bottoms for sale for £8 & theres now 20% off online! xxxx

I have a "granny bed jacket", cos I always read in bed before I go to sleep. Looked all over and got one in a charity shop. A friend of mine bought a cheap dressing gown in a CS and chopped the bottom off, hemmed it, and made a fab bed jacket. :)

Its cold here today, but has been sunny. Got lots of washing dry, winter prep, just the ironing to do now.

I try to find brushed cotton PJs but it's not that easy. When OH is here I just use him as a hot water bottle :p the rest of the time I use layers.

At one point I lived in a caravan. Not only did I have a sleeping bag under the sheet, and another one next to the wall, but I had one over the duvet plus a blanket, and slept in thermals, socks, a fleece and a hat... Nothing seems cold after that!

I have today washed the bedding in the spare bedroom and I am in the process of washing the throws. I have done it to freshen it all up in there and also because the quilted duvet cover has been cleaned as well. The throws are also used by the spaniel to make herself comfy ;) so they are all cleaned, done and another thing crossed off my list.

I wish it was sunny for us :(
