  • Hi everyone

I noticed in B&Q today that they have fleece blankets in a variety of colours for £3 (the size is 130cm x 150cm). I bought some dark purple ones to line my daughter's curtains.

    Hope that helps!

    Debbie :)

Not sure if any of you know about this site but it is called the Cottage Smallholder. They have some absolutely devine but very easy recipes on there and some brilliant tips. It might be worth you all having a look and and seeing what you can make use of. The belly of pork is something to write home about. Also some tips on foraging and spotting wild damson and sloes for gins!

  • I have one (I'm VERY small, well under 5 ft). I just put it on and then put my slipper boots on over the top. The legs are a bit ruffled but it will stop you tripping over it.

I love mine!! My oh - not so much :rotfl:!

Love the slipper boot idea! Thanks ;o)

It struck me last night as I got ready for bed - we take off a nicely layered set of clothing appropriate for the season and temperature in our houses and put on these ridiculous t-shirt material, totally inadequete garments instead. Ok I know we are then going to dive into a duvet-laden bed BUT I quite like to read and preferably not under the duvet with a torch - why are the tops of juimjams Sooo flippin' useless - often short sleeved and short in the body. I went in to a Matalan today to see if they had fleecy pjs and was frankly appalled at the lack of anythinf remotely cosy. Note to self - what IS the point of Matalan?

Midgies - awful things. Why do they always hover at face height?

DM made us some fantastic "veils" - an old hat with a brim and really, really fine netting on. Didn't get quite all of them but at least they couldn't get everywhere so you felt like you were crawling:eek:.

I remember camping at Loch Lomond once with a Spanish pal (who had no ideas what midges were like) and she ran around screaming like a banshee - when we went to the toilet block later we both had 1000s red pin-pricks all over us. She was nearly hysterical and wouldn't believe me when I said they'd be gone by morning - hers were but I had welts everywhere (severely allergic to the wee b*****s)
