Try these tugrinAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Tugrin - keep the radio on this evening as 'company'. I used to find the house empty when DD went back and kept busy for a few days until I'd got used to it.
We still have the swallows swooping about the par here. My younger dog will miss them when they go as part of our walks involve time spent standing still while they swoop and chatter about her - she wags her tail the whole time but is secretly longing for the day when I'll let her off the lead and she'll actually catch one:rotfl:.
Been to the Chinese supermarket this afternoon and am stocked up with noodles. They sell big packs of plain ones and they are handy for a quick lunch or to go with something. Also bought some other stuff so my cupboards are bulging. I'm going to buy some UHT milk as there were some days last year that I just didn't venture far at all, although I live in the city.
For those stocking up on cold remedies, Te$co have a cheapie cough medicine for tickly coughs priced about £2. It's glycerin, lemon and honey and actually stops my cough during the night. I've woken a couple of times, enough to be irritated enough to look for something like this. Didn't expect it to work as I remember a dr once saying if cough medicine actually worked we'd prescribe it.
It seemed a bit warmer here this afternoon and I went out without a jacket - brave me for August.

Home Bargains are just starting to get the brushed cotton pj's in again plus fleece dressing gowns.
Not the most attractive look but I always buy a bigger size so I can tuck the top into the bottoms if it's really cold.0 -
Here's another link for brushed cotton pj's

I know it may sound a bit daft but... I am having a humongous clear out :eek: as part of my winter prep and having a carboot on the bank holiday. If we raise anything this will go to fund some of our preparation expenses... so it might not cost us that much. DH thinks i have need for more storage for my tinned tommies .... Maybe he has a bit of a pointThought i would suggest it.
I did get ready and had a huge clear out I felt very smug and great for clearing all this space (for loo rolls) I packed the car I got up at 4 In the morning :eek: didn't realize there was more than 1. I drove for an 1hr to bank's i have never driven to this place on my own let alone in the dark.....and when I got there. There was a sign;
Due to the weather we have cancelled See you next week ! The weather report was fine and stayed dry too :mad:

re the midgies- when we were at the berries (!!!) we used to put wild mint behind our ears and this seemed to do the trick.
had to laugh at the post bus - i too lived in the country and the postie used to do the glens all the way up to the spittal of Glenshee and mentioned the post bus to someone where i live now and they wouldnt believe me, now sadly i believe due to insurance they no longer provide the service and i think there is only one service bus a week! when i moved into the city i remember the first winter and the thick ice on the windows of my flat and i had nothing but an old gin bottle so filled that with hot water to use as a hot water bottle, next night i had a friend staying and the gin bottle was still sat down the side of the bed half full and she quite seriously started the conversation about was i enjoying living on my own, was everything alright etc etc and when i asked why she said that she'd seen the gin bottle down the side of my bed and thought i had taken to drinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!skintbint x

I am just popping in to say hello. I haven't managed to get on the thread much as I am quite tired in the evenings after work. I have tried to do a couple of little winter preparations in the evenings though. Last night I ordered dd some lovely snow boots for her Christmas pressie. I will try and have a good read through at the weekend. I miss my daily read so much!0
