Picking up on the debate about people dying of cold, I came across this article. Being a cynic, I checked the figures with the National Statistics website.

It is real and not an urban myth.

So understandable that figures for UK are higher than 'cold' countries - Finland & Sweden - as they expect the snow and therefore prepare for it. My boss had the cold weather payment last year for the first time and it helped her with the bills, plus her landlord had fitted double glazing in the summer. No central heating though.

I was at the doctors yesterday and meant to ask when we can start booking the flu jabs from as the boys & I have asthma.

QUESTION! Wanted to ask - whilst getting sheets out earlier I realised my water tank has a thermostat - whats the best temp to have this at as we only use it for dishes as we have an electric shower and no bath and I think its currently on 70 degrees! Its on literally for half an hour

I'm not too sure what temp it should be set at but I do know that it has to be high to kill off any bacteria.....the last thing you need is legionaires disease

I've just been to visit an elerly lady I know & she has given me loads of baking apples.
Will spent tomorrow stewing them & making pies.
I'll run out of freezer space soon.

It was saying 24degrees earlier in the garden, so no, it's not cold down south.

    Hi guys

Hi another serial lurker here, just wanted to say I have exactly the same set up as you, my water tank is set at 60 degrees and is only on for about 30mins as well, so I find that is fine for me.

Thanks for all the great tips folks

    Right

I have my eyes set on a nice pair of hiking boots that will get their wear this winter....being that Im now up the top of a valley and my work and local shop is at the bottom - as is the school :(

Anyway I was wondering because there is a good chance of snow and rain in wales this winter, what do you all think of these?

This was the first pair I came to that are in a wearable colour and they match my coat :D but Im thinking they might be a sensible buy for the school run etc.
    Time to find me again
