Ordered a pair of the lined trousers but they are too big, returning them for a small size, also ordered the white fleece, the prices are so good just the thing for winter around my COLD house. Thanks to original poster ,you are a star!

ahh thank you that's a great idea, i know i've got at least one in the house. thought also occured to me that i have an extra pair of thermal fleece boot liners that i could stuff inside whatever i use to cover both sides of my lower back. it's normally only my left side but if the left has spasmed badly enough then the other side starts going too.

the fleece i thought would be like my own self heating pad because it would store my own body heat just like a duvet does. combine these two and i have a no sew option! thanks to everyone that has responded about this, i'll def rig something up now as i just can't face another winter like that.

Try thick maternity tights but with the bump bit at the back and pulled up to bra height. Or a bodysuit type underlayer. Or just some very long thermal t-shirts tucked into your knickers. (Oooooh, sexy look, eh?)

I also think you should go and get the doc to look at your back. I had this sort of pain a few years ago. It was like someone sticking a screwdriver in beside my spine and giving it a few twists. Didn't get better so went to doc's and it turned out to be referred pain from a disc problem which needed strong anti-inflammatories to keep it under control. Not saying yours is the same of course but long term back problems really should be checked out.

I had a look at their size guide and going by their sizes, I'm between a 16 and 18  (I have a 33inch waist), however, most of my trousers are size 12, so I decided to order a 14.

My trousers have just come and they're too big! I measured the waist and it's 34 inches, which according to their size guide, should have a 30 inch waist. Now I've got the inconvenience and cost of returning them and ordering a smaller size if they still have any left in stock.

I really hate the way clothes companies lie about the sizes.

Ah candy stripe flannelette sheets - NOW does wnyone remember Winceyette nighties? I had lovely one as a teen that I kept and wore until it was no longer brushed cotton but bald cotton but was still beutifully soft and thick. Woolly vests were the thing then too and now we need them back again to cut costs - when will manufacturers realise that its not just people who run up mountains by choice who need REALLY GOOD underwear these days!!!!

Best thing for outside pipe is the tube insulation with a slit along it, then just pop it on the pipe and hey presto! My dad also swers by wrapping old carpet etc round then. We need to sort out the pipe to our washing machine in the garage, froze nearly every time last winter grrr!

My washing machine water pipe froze last year also in a leanto conservatory; I have some of those techni -ice cold pak sheets which can also be heated I heated a couple and put round the pipes it helped thaw out the ice in the pipes, obviously lagging is better but as a one off these worked.
