Preparing for winter II

Hi ,Sorry if this has already been mentioned but Matalan had snoods in grey and black today at £6 each. Remember last winter when it was so cold and we were scouring the shops for them? I've got mine...
(in fact I'm wearing it now and can recommend them for inhouse use!:)) It's surprising how much warmer you get by covering your neck!
I've got a very soft, shortish scarf (would be useless outside) and can often be found wearing it in the house (most of my tops/jumpers are v-neck & hate polo-necks) - it really does work!:DThe winter lined trousers have been delivered. They don't flatter (well not me anyway) but they are the cosiest trousers I've ever seen. Don't know about dog walking, I may be living in these in the house because the heating won't be on much.
:jCan't wait for mine to arrive!:jGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I've been lurking on this thread for a while - thanks to whoever posted the link for the Craghoppers trousers, I've bought a pair for me and my boyfriend. I also told a workmate about them, who bought a pair too! I wonder if Craghoppers are wondering why they are so popular!
Anyway, this is just a quick question about flannelette sheets. I really want some for the winter, but I'm not sure where to get them from. I was thinking Amazon, but they all seem to have bad reviews. If anyone has some recommendations, I'd be really grateful. Also, do they shed thread? That seems to be the main complaint about them on Amazon.0 -
Could I just ask please are flannelette the same as brushed cotton?
TIA

For those of you wanting the old fashioned laundry hanger, I have to share. If you buy them off ebay on the more expensive side, they will sell you the hard wood.
We paid £11.97 for the wood, teak, plus the brackets cost about £18 with postage. Anyhoo, Hubs has been planing them today and we have reached this
They are actually 7ft long and I am glad because once up they will give me loads of space. I will post pics of this.0 -

This was a while ago but I got my double fitted ones from la redoute or vetbaudet i forget which and used a discount code. They are nice and soft still.
The singles i made out of 2 cot size sheets (they were in the sale on tesco site £1.47 2pk!) just stitched 2 together to make them fit the kids beds. I see the cot size ones reduced/cheap quite often so if you dont mind sewing it can work out much cheaper. hth0 -
Hi
Have never posted on this board but am addicted to it and love all your tips and ideas.
Can I ask regarding the yaktrax, are they good, I live in London so winter not as harsh as a lot of yours but streets are never gritted and I am very unsteady on my feet so was petrified trying to get to work in the snow and ice last winter ( had very bad fall in my younger days). Would anyone recommend them?
I have been trying to prepare, stocking up food, got some nice fleecey blankets from the silentnight/argos deal a few weeks ago. Dug out all the kids outwear and washed, checked for repairs.
Thanks again for all your tips x'You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose' - Dr Suess
