i was wondering, does anyone know if primark are doing those all in one fleece pj's in bigger sizes again this year? you know the footless ones that zip up the front from inner thigh to neck?

I got some for me and 2 daughters last year, my youngest has outgrown hers, so have cut the feet off and sewed some slipper sox into them, they wil do for another year at least.

Have stocked up my winter store cupboard a bit more today. It's in a sideboard under the stairs that did contain bits and pieces, mostly DIY stuff. So, the boys won't be looking in there for food!

Re water being cut off, it happens a few times around here. The annoying thing is, they drive along the road announcing that the water's going to be cut off in an hour or whenever, for however long, using a tannoy that muffles what they're saying and as we're a way back from the road anyway, I can't work out what they're saying. So when I hear the sound, I realise that the water is going to be cut off for a time and make sure the kettle is filled and we've got some spare water for other things.
With all the rain we've had, our waterbutt is full, (and hasn't been short since we installed it a couple of years ago) so we've got plenty of water for flushing the loo!

With regards autumn....I noticed today that one of the trees down in the village has quite a few red leaves. So wrong for August!

Bought a 2l hw bottle from eb@y for £2.99 inc. Looked at adult all in one sleepsuits but they measured 60" from nape to heel, and as I'm 60" from top of head to heel I'd have to have them unzipped to their waist so I could see out :rotfl:

Have sorted all my winter jimmies, thermals and slipper sox, have a good drawerful so don't need to buy any more this year :)

Just salt, long life and powdered milk, and bread flour to buy now, they can wait til pension day at the end of Sept and I'm prepared. Until someone here mentions something else I've not thought of, of course!

Spent the evening sewing fleece linings to the curtains. Only one more to do but I need to buy another fleece in order to do it. It does seem a bit wrong putting the linings up in August as its supposed to be summer still. I need to do something about the glazed panel in the door, velcro seems to be the way to go but I'll think about it today and sort it out tomorrow.

Been reading earlier in the thread about the fleece lined trousers which sound like a good thing to have and have to buy some new boots. My coat is also looking past its best and contemplating getting a new one, but it's not an essential as the one I have will last out another year if it has to. Noticed that the winter stock is hitting the shops so probably have a look at some point in the next couple of weeks.

I was in C0stc0 yesterday and noticed that they had most of their winter stock in. In particular very warm mittens and gloves for 6.99, fleece PJ bottoms for 10 and snow grippers for shoes. I bought some mittens and wore them yesterday - but I have appalling circulation and am still wearing my Ugg boots!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Just found this thread!
Thanks for reminding me I wanted to re-start the boiler cover
Also are the ice grippers for shoes cheapest at QVC? Also do they work and really stop you slipping? I need 6 pairs..5 for us and 1 for mum who was house bound the last 2years as totally frightened of the ice..I also fell and broke my fingers so would like to avoid that this year lol

Not too sure but there's two in a pack and they're in stock now. I know the Yaktrax UK site doesn't sell them even though they're made by the same company afaik. Depends if you want to know you have them now. Amazon have the proper Yaktrax in size large for £10. Yaktrax are brilliant. They don't work on black ice though.

Rising from the ashes - the Dunelm flannel sheets that I bought from them were in a set, which was a flat sheets, a fited sheet and two pillow case in king size for £34.99.

Yes you can buy them individually but when I added it all up I would have been worse off. I could no way afford the Waters & Noble sheets that they had though.

morning all, nice sunny day here up in NE scotland -will get the washing dry in no time, bit nippy first thing but warming up nicely. Off to the allotment today to get all the winter veg i can planted up and the tatties and onions dug up and stored. one thing that has popped into my mind while reading back is extra clothing in my desk at work - heating is not reliable at all and we face the North Sea so get full force of any bad weather coming in "aff the watter" so will have a bag at work with cosy cardigan and thick tights/leggings i may even put one of those polythene poncho things you get in it for walking home in the bad weather (public office so we are always last to close even in public transport goes off!) will keep everything dry and save on trying to get everything dried. Was brought up in the hills and am always amazed at how people on the coast panic as here they hardly ever had any significant snow or if they did it was gone as quickly as it came but last year really caught them out.
have also added dog food to my list, shameful i didnt think of that - couldnt have the mad spaniel starving! mind you she would eat anything - and has done!

recommend this site for good quality clothing at reduced prices - have put a couple of linkys but certainly worth having a look through as i got the DS base layers for playing rugby for less than £5, and there are a few climacool and dri-fit tops that are brilliant for under jumpers etc. did also notice on the kids section lined trousers for around the £7 mark.

a list of the boots they have on sale at the moment include the likes of Karrimore for less than half price in the shops but remember to check the vouchers and discount thread as there are usually codes and also go through quidco
