Preparing for winter II

:D:D More than most normal people; there are currently 67 under the bed, 8 in the wall cupboard in the kitchen and 2 on the counter waiting to be incorporated into a chilli this evening.:D:D:D
you are worse with toms than i am with loo roll :rotfl:
we don't eat a lot of tomato based products but that might change as i'm starting on my freezer batch cooking now... hmm maybe i should add a few to my big shopping list... or is that just a slippery slope0 -

I have lots of baked beans, too, as they are my emergency comfort food.
I'd like to have more loo rolls but they take up quite a bit of space and I only have about 48 at the moment. I thank my lucky stars that I live in a tiny flat, have no car and am nowhere near one of these warehouse stores, or even near a Really Big Supermarket. Can you imagine what might occur if I was allowed to run amok in Costco?! It'd be a case of......"I'll take two (pallets)!"
I have 2 first-degree relatives who are warehousemen, so it's probably genetic........:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Don't know if anyone will be interested, but Groupon have a special deal on full car valet within the M25 area, £19, but needs to be purchased by 23:59 today. Can only start to book from 24th, but may be worth considering as a pre winter task. I want to change my car, so this is a bargain for me!A smile costs little but creates much0

I've just checked and the lined trousers my son has are Cherokee ones. That's Tesco isn't it? He's had them for a couple of years now though so they may not still do them.
i'm fairly certain that it's tesco's that sell cherokee in the UK, i seem to remember being suprised to see the cherokee brand in the UK when my daughter was a baby
just out of curiosity how comfortable are these lined trousers, they looked a bit awkward/bulky in the pics0 -

DH came stamping up the garden a couple of days ago and asked why there are 64 loo rolls in the garden shed :rotfl:
Good job that he hasn`t looked in the top of the wardrobes then:D
I`m pretty much sorted in the food and toiletries department - just the odds and sods to buy now, a while ago we tried the three bird roast from @ldi and we gave it the thumbs up so this year i`ll be stashing one in the freezer for Christmas dinner, i`ll be buying it in the next few weeks so thats another thing sorted - then if we are snowed in all will be well.
The bay window curtains are now sorted :j I ended up scrubbing the window frame and cleaning the windows and then putting new slats on the vertical blinds, i also sanded and varnished the windowsill and re sealed the edges with new sealant. The curtains were finished and the headers put onto the lining and they have now been hung for a few days and they do look lovely. All the stuff that i needed for the extra jobs including the slats were already stashed in one place or another so very little expenditure there. Trouble is now i`ve done that window i have to do the straight window at the opposite end of the lounge
I`m loving all the linkys posted - i already bought the snow shovel that someone posted a few pages back a couple of months ago before i found this thread again and a couple of other things as well - its great to know that although we are spending we are still moneysaving as there are some great value things out there at the moment, these things will last us quite a while too.
Belated welcome to Kathy - i enjoy reading your posts, at the 5 metres of snow though
Right i`d best get a move on as i have blackberry wine to filter before i set off to work - good timing too as Dsis has just called round with a bagful of pears so i need to find a recipe for those - preferably something which will contain alcohol for those long winter nights
I`ve only a pound of elderberries atm as when we went foraging many were not ripe yet so i`ve frozen the ones that we have and will go again to look for more in a couple of weeks. We started on last years elderberry wine a couple of nights ago and its just gorgeous.
Happy prepping peeps!

PS GRN - Thanks for posting the craghoppers link, i was after the winter lined trousers last year but they didn`t have my size and there is no way that i could have paid full price for them, i have ordered a pair for DH too so we will both be snug when out with the woofaloesPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Just remembered that I stashed a few tins of tommies in the sewing cabinet last month after hitting A$DA so have inadvertantly lied to the reading public. It's 67 uner the bed, 8 in the wall cupboard, 2 on the counter and 7 with the sewing gear.
Total stash = 84.Gosh. Better hope not run over by a bus as I would hate any of my relatives to have to clear the flat and find all this.:o Double-gosh, better not buy any more until the next financial year, either.:o

Not my day as I'd also washed a rug as it was so lovely first thing and it's raining so I've had to bring it in - hummpph0 -
GreyQueen, I'm going to tell my DH about your tomato stash as mine of around 20 pales into insignificance:D0

:rotfl: thank you greyqueen that gave me a good chuckle!
if anyone found my stash they'd think i was craving carbs and had a serious case of the runs when they found my cous cous/rice and loo roll collections0
