Been reading about these on this wonderful thread and I wondered how do you fit them behind the rads? I am not into DIY and am old and have arthritis but I have a very cold house,I think these may help.?You live..You learn.:)0

Hi all.
What is the best method for fixing (temporary) fleeces to the backs of curtains??
I did a quick search and MSE'ers seem to use different methods:- Sewing velcro to back of curtains to attach fleece to (not sure if you need to also sew velcro to the fleece itself, or if it sticks itself!).
- Using pins to simply attach.
- Sewing the fleece in place..but this is permanent.
also:
does the bulkiness of the fleece make it tricky to gather the curtains and get them to hang right??
do you just attach the fleece at the top edge, or do you have to attach down each side too?

I picked up 2 jumpers that will be ideal for work in the winter in Scotland for £2 each! I also got a nice boob tube from Dorothy p's for £4 but that's not really winter clothing....it's incase we get a little last bit of summer as i'm packing my summer clothes away today. (most unworn, as usual!)
Today i'm decluttering the house, i WILL put up an old towel over the sky light in the bathroom, I have found some old curtains which i will wash and see if there is anyway to put them up in the kitchen, the full length one covers the door, so it's just the window to worry about.
OH found my winter food store!! I've told him if he takes ANYTHING out of it i need to know so it can be replaced, but i know him, It's not in the kitchen so he'll forget about it and not take anything.
Still looking for winter boots.Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500

I fixed mine with blu tak - have left them there all year round too. It wasn't too difficult but i did have someone to help me hold one side whilst i attached the other to make it easier.

i'm curious to know if anyone that has storage heaters has used the foil/space blankets around the edges of the storage heaters to reflect heat back into the room. with mine i can't get it behind like you can with a gas radiator as they are firmly mounted to the wall but i do wonder if it would be at all helpful to have it surrounding the area...
if anyone with storage heaters has done this i'd appreciate your feedback on how it worked0 -
I've been busy:D
I've used all the chives that i've grown & made chive butter & froze it in small bits.
I'm going to do the same with the basil this week.

How did you freeze the chive butter in small bits? I would like to do the same. Did you use ice cube trays?Felines are my favourite

What I do when I make herb butter, is roll it into a sausage shape, wrap in greasproof paper and twist the ends like a sweet wrapper. Then I freeze it. When I want to use some, it's easy enough to just slice off what I need straight from the freezer.0

Clas Olhsen had the foil blankets last year along with the ice grippers to go over shoes.
MIL gave me two foil blankets recently. FIL used to go on a Loudres pilgrimage every year as the accompanying doctor and they were in his kit. I must check them to make sure they are alright.
I got a 2 kg bag of lentils from Tesco today for £1.99 so can make lots of soup once the weather turns colder.0 -
re foil blankets (not sure what they look like!): Can I just wrap some foil round cardboard & attach it behind the radiators? I have never made anything like this before. I can easily get cardboard from the local Co-op.0
