Never had this problem before, could it be the left over moisture in the carpet whiles it was drying?

started sorting through my tops etc, I bought lycra vest tops in Primary (£1.50 each) which I can use over summer then use under other stuff in winter.
Will start stocking up on salt.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Got some grubby (but cleanable) wellies from the boot sale for 50p today so they will do for either DS1 or DS2. Ordered another set of sheets from Littlewoods - thought I would only get for the kids but having felt the quality I decided that maybe we could do with another couple. Also got some thermal vests for me - reduced but not really, really cheap, however it's another job done.
Spoke to my dad (in his early 70's) the other day about the forecast for this winter. He was quite blase about it and said that if it was bad then he would just take the bus to the nearest town. I know he has full freezers but have decided to make up a box of bits and bobs for him such as longlife milk which I can give to him end Oct/early Nov just in case.
BTW, packs of 10 dinner candles only £1.99 in argos if anyone needs any. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Have just discovered this thread-some great ideas, thank you! I am already planning to make a quilt to go across my front door and the 2 windows at the time, as it opens into the office and is always freezing in there in winter.
I was wondering if any one could advise me on this: I have quite an old fashioned central heating system. I looked into having it all updated last year, but my ex ( a heating engineer) said that in his opinion, what I have is better than all the modern stuff available. He cleaned and maintained the system, the only problem being that he had to remove all the fibrous insulation material from the sides and front of the immersion tank (it's a funny thing-heats the radiators and hot water on gas, or gas can be turned off and you can just use electric in the summer or for quickish hot water eg in the summer.) Obviously I want to replace insulation somehow, but I can't get into it to place an actual jacket around it, as it is in the top of the airing cupboard so I can only sort of slide stuff upwards to insulate it (the fibrous stuff had somehow got into the pipes and was stopping the water from flowing into the bath, hence he removed all the stuff from where he could get to.)
The tank does get too hot to touch, so I am bemused by what I can put up around it to stop heat escaping. Does anyone have any ideas what I could use? My ex just shrugged his shoulders and said he hadn't got a clue when I asked him!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
I've stocked up on salt and put a couple of those big bags into the bottom of my dresser. Better to do it now because when the bad weather comes you can't find salt for love nor money! I've also told my mum to stock up as well so she won't have to worry about slipping when the ice comes.
I've also got cat litter in (I do have a cat though!) because that is good to spread when its really icy as well, it gives you a bit more grip while youre waiting for the salt to melt the ice.:hello:  please play nicely children !0 -

Morning! Just thought I'd share with you all that yesterday while my neighbours were enjoying their BBQs while the Big Yellow Ball was visiting us, I was sitting indoors knitting my 1st ever pure woolen fingerless glove! A lot easier than I thought it would be so I will knit it's partner today! Have been babysitting a lot recently and once the kids were in bed, have been knitting loads... 3 scarves and 2 HWB covers so far, with plans for more!
Thankyou everyone for all the amazing tips, keep them coming!

Last year the buses for us did not run for four days and we had no post for three days either. The Police hired in 4x4's and they were only allowed out to deal with priority 999 calls. If the weather turns bad again this year then I guess - Stagecoach who operate round us and most of the country it seems - the buses might not run again.
Alice-Mary I do not know why people have this mania for having a bar-be-que the minute the sun comes out it's ridiculous not to mention the stink of them. We have quiet one's in the evening and sometimes we use the chimnea which has a special grill section for it which contains and directs the smoke off in a controlled way not billowing all over the show like the rest of them do
We have just had a rain shower here, which is welcome. I shall probably have to buy some wood stain - went riffling through the garage underneath cupboard yesterday and noticed there is a quarter of a tin left!
I have a really nice M&S wool jacket which is dog tooth in design but it is dated and I think I would get allot more use if I just dyed it black - that is next on my hit list I think I am just hoping it will turn out okay though :cool:Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:
