Hello. I've been lurking, reading for a couple of weeks. Have got really into the swing of preparing for winter due to all your fantastic hints tips and pieces of great advice.
So far:-
I've sorted out medicines and made a list of what to buy.
Put kids hats scarves gloves etc in a storage bag.
Sorted out candles and holders.
Ordered from Sports Direct and sussed out which winter boots I'd like to have!
Have started shopping for the C word!!
Still lots to do.
Thank you for all your advice. I've now started reading the first winter thread!0 -
I did a book on it on my computer but the problem is that no one wants to publish it because unless you get celebrity endorsement(s) it will never happen sadly
So, I am happy to share allot of the stuff here! That way we all get to benefit.
If you are looking around car boots and come across clothes airers buy it because it will save you from using the tumble dryer. New airers cost around £7.00 plus. I have got three of them and they really come into their own in the winter - in the summer they are brilliant for airing off things in the conservatory!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Welsh Camper - Next have their sale on right now (don't know how far away you are from one) and I bought a black pair of leather gloves and a woollen hat. The leather gloves were £4.00 and the hat was £3.00. The kids stuff in there for hats and gloves will be a bargain. Don't know about coats but Ebay may also be worth a look they were selling a winter white padded coat on there for 99p and £3.50 postage!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

Lots of great advice, keep it coming
Plus remember to tell friends and family (and neighbours) you're doing this. True MSE is looking after ourselves but also looking out for others too
Oooh and a quick question - what should I store rocksalt in? It seems to be powerful stuff, would a metal or plastic container do the job?Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Plastic is better than metal, salt seems to corrode metal. If you have one of those plastic tubs with a lid that is your best option because you are going to need to keep it dry and free from damp whihc will cause it to clump up!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money
