Preparing for winter II

Was speaking to my Grandad about our windows. Old rickety wooden ones, they're in a pretty terrible state. But my Grandad said he'll pay for us to have double glazing fitted - and we have a couple people coming around to give us quotes over the next week. It's beyond generous. So if it goes through I might have a box of double glazing film and draught tape going spare if anyone wants it.
Our saving for the winter gas meter is going well, I'd say we easily have over £100 already. With about £70+ on the meter right now, hopefully if we get the windows we'll be very snug! I'm going to get my Brother to come bleed the radiators, and maybe flush the system nearer Autumn. We just need to buy some hot water bottles now, and I think that's it. Then it's just a matter of getting everything made and fitted!
Started work on some Christmas presents already, a Home Sweet Home sampler for my Grandparents. And I'm going to buy things for Christmas Cakes today, I think me and OH decided on making 2 for the families but I can't quite remember!0 -
I have been buying a few things for Christmas, and they're all put away in the wardrobe ready for me to assemble later in the year.
This morning, I've just given the radiators a really decent hoovering so there's no dust in the bits I can get to. While I really doubt it'll make much difference to the performance of the radiators, hopefully they won't smell of cooked dust when they eventually get turned on! I also hoovered the vents and grille of my dehumidifier to see if that helps make it a little more efficient too.

I now have the fleece and sewing machine i need to line my bedroom curtains. Do i just tack it on the hem and sew? im tempted to sew in some velcro strips instead so they can be removed during the hotter months hmmm[/QUOTE]
Ijust attach the fleece at the top of the curtain and leave the sides and bottom loose. you could attach by sewing, velcro or ,as in my case, safety pins.0 -

Just thought i would give everyone a heads up about some thermal plastic in poundshop. I know i mentioned the blankets but they now have an emergency shelter in made from the same stuff which can be cut down and you get tons of it 3 sides which each measure 8 foot by 5 foot, so plenty to do the full house and possibly any other uses, ideas?Mummy of a beautiful little boy and fanatical about christmas

Yesterday my Mum gave me a new quilt cover [Kingsize] that she doesn't like and it matches the new wall paper for DD's room perfectly so I'm going to cut it down to make a new cover for her bed and then make curtains with the left overs and the spare pillow case - cheap as chips!!

Thats strange ,I bought two of those last week.
I have no idea why or what I'm going to do with them but I thought I would get a couple for my "might come in useful sometime" cupboard.
They are huge things so goodness knows what they'll get used for :rotfl:.0
