We have had at least 15cm to-day...am thawing it in buckets and basins to flush the loos as we have had no water for 2 days....we will have to make a concentrated effort to-morrow to thaw pipes (insulated) so that we will have some for Christmas....my kitchen floor is a muck heap at present as dog, cats and humans are all dragging in snow on their feet and I can't find it in myself to use the water that we are buying to wash the floor...will keep collecting snow and maybe we will get enough that way!

    I HATE SNOW!

Oh Marie  That is just awful, poor you. Do you have heating? Any chance of a thaw in your area any time soon?

Or someone you can stay with if it continues?

(I actually feel quite embarrassed about my whinging yesterday as there are obviously people a lot worse off than me due to this weather :()

So pleased about your washing machine Frugal..maybe I'll get some sleep tonight!:D
All this talk of hanging hot water bottles out of windows, casting spells etc! Good job we can laugh about it:)
Our bath wouldn't drain today and after trying to defrost pipes with hairdryer (OH) and heated wheatbag (Me) we got absolutely nowhere. Eventually discovered that the whole downpipe had frozen:eek:
Poor OH spent ages up a ladder in falling snow trying to sort it and eventually had to saw the pipe open to release the water (most of it over him! Poor dear, he's rigged up a temporary outlet for us and the whole thing will have to be replaced. Let's hope that doesn't freeze up:( Lots of good advice about frozen pipes on the InYourHome forum.:)

Glad to hear you got your WM sorted Frugal :j
meanmarie sorry to hear you're having a rough time of it - hope you get a thaw and some water soon hun

Nuala Eenymeenyand meanmarie have got more snow than they know what to do with, but down here in Dorset (or at least the part I'm in) apart from our little covering on Friday, we had the predicted rain all day yesterday, and today has just been cold, dull and damp, but have had temperatures above freezing all day.

The British Isles maybe small, but we certainly have varying extremes of weather!

Have you tried phoning your water supplier and explaining the situation? they may be able to get you a temporary water bowser or something.
Your situation is pretty dire really, no water supply in a first world country... beggars belief doesn't it?

    Hope you get something sorted.
