My boiler has gone again. The condensation pipe is frozen. I need to get pipe insulation on the outside of it as this is the second time its happened but the pipe is at 1st floor height (it goes from my bedroom down a slight slope to just above my bath outlet) so I need tall ladders as well  Guess what the one thing I don't have it :mad: Will need to get in touch with someone about them coming out to do it. There's no way I can manage.

I have a temporary fix for now, but the quicker the thaw comes the better :(

Nicki is there some way you can hang a towel or a blanket out of the window to cover it, it's quite surprising how little the temperature needs to rise to just get it moving.

Just to give you a laugh my neighbour had the same thing but at ground level, she kicked the pipe in frustration and broke the it, the boiler has worked fine ever since.

I have this amazing ability to detect frustration in others.

God help ya luv, it drives you nuts when you can't get to the bottom of it.

Is it displaying any kind of error code, is anything lighting up or is it just not filling?

Same from me - it's awful when thngs like this happen.

Heard we are set for a thaw on Christmas Day - balmy temperatures of up to 10C!!!! But I will believe it when I see it.

We got about 10cm of snow today - am still so surprised by it. The arrangement of plant pots and saucers I had rigged up to feed and water the birds has been totally covered over. Will have to excavate it in the morning and make sure they have food and water.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

    Oh Frugal. :(

I can't remember your family circumstances. Do you have a neighbour who could help out with the loan of their machine? Alternatively , could you put the washing into a nice warm bath, put on naff Christmas music and get children/spouse/the postie to take turns dancing on the washing to pound it into submission (bit like banging it on the rocks by the river in hot countries)?

Failing that, we put up our Christmas tree on Solstice evening. I'm sure I could secretly sneak a run around it three times widdershins with a few incantations to see if that would help ;) . Willing to try <lol> Silly season is upon us.

Eeny and Marmite - thanks for the torch suggestions, and for the mobile card idea. I haven't seen those for sale here. We have some wind up torches with mobile charger sockets on them so maybe one of those would do the trick. I'll get the DSs to experiment.

I've just heard from DS1 that he's left the party earlier than they all planned. I think lots of them must have had to change plans cos of the weather. I've checked the bus website and services seem to be running as far as us. He is now walking the mile or two with friends to the bus stop so I'm feeling a lot better.
