dry it out and maybe get some plywood and double skin it

ive so far ordered a new winter hat and scarf, ive bought a regatta fleece jacket which is toasty and warm.
also gonna have to start building up my stores,, (i should of been doing this when i started on this thread but hey ho!)

also cold here, i want a wood burner but alas i dont think the landlord (council) would allow it :(

Depends on your council, my DD lives in a council house and was given permission to install a wood burner despite them having gas central heating, she has had it in 2 years now and harly uses the heathing except for early in the morning so the roooms are warm when the chidlren get up.

You will never know unless you ask.

it's cold nasty and windy here with some very noisy gusts of wind every 10 minutes or so

and, i have discovered that the door in my inner hall leading to my outerhall and unheated stairs (to my front door) has warped and THIS year it DOES have a draught! and here was me thinking i didn't need to bother with a door snake for it

last year it was so snug against the carpet it was actually a bit difficult to open! so, for a quick fix for tonight i have shoved the hall carpet up in front of it... problem solved...for now :(

Just finished a pile of ironing, that kept me warm for a bit.

Great motivation for a task I usually hate! :T

I was remembering last night that my Gran used to burn a candle under a terracotta plant pot (on an old plate?) in their outside loo prevent the pipes freezing. Think I might try that in our downstairs loo in the extension, very chilly in winter! Maybe a nightlight or a lantern might be a safer option these days.:)

I am going to do the same in my outhouse - I have a WM in there and last year the pipes froze

I am so worried about it happening again. I have insulated the pipes as best I can, but as the outhouse is unheated and draughty then there isn't much else I can do.

Bit worried about fire risk but if its all done properly then the risk should be very minimal.

    Problem

Whilst my kitchen is now really, really cosy (in the 10 years i've lived here its always been cold), the back door (with the HM fleece curtain attached) is dripping with condensation :(

Its a wooden door with glass panel at the top. The wood at the bottom (quite thin) is wet. The top bit is ok because its bubble wrapped... altho I guess I could run into problems with that that I can't see.

    Now what shall I do?

    :(

Could you dry it out and then add a second layer of wood adding a layer of insulation inbetween?
