Just ordered some heating oil to top up ready, it was 53.29p/litre:eek:My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -

Ouch!! I spent half the morning the other day ringing round, eventually Boilerjuice was cheapest which is very unusual, their prices are usually massively higher than anyone else. I paid 45.39 plus vat but if you factor in my time and phone bill it's lots more. Very aggravating to have to go through this every time you need oil, these gas consumers don't know they're born!

It was me who said about the microwavable flasks. Yes, you do just put the flask in the microwave! Like you say, it saves on the washing up! It does say that if you put tomato or darkly coloured soup in that it may stain, but as long as its clean (and it can go in the dishwasher too!!) who cares what colour it is!The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

well you wouldn't know it was winter or nearly winter today. i've got on a fleece and i'm boiling after hoovering the stairs and hall and cleaning out the hall cupboard despite having the front door and hall window open!
i also tidied up the coat cupboard and removed all the stuff that no longer fits my daughter (time for freecycle again!) as well as putting all our hats and paired up gloves (i found ALL of them!) with the gloves nicely balled together as you do with socks in my bike basket. i put the scarves on a hanger though because the basket was pretty full with many hats and gloves
i also moved my other bike basket filled with our bike helmets and bike pumps to the shelf on the downstairs cupboard, i can't see us doing much more cycling now as i have such bad knees and my daughter complains about the cold and doesn'tlike riding in it
so now it's all nice and tidy and useable just in time for the flat inspection and some freecyclers kids will have warm stuff for autumn/winter too :T0 -
wow what a difference getting the curtain up has made, the kitchen is usually cold no atter the weather but it has been naice and snug since they went up, plus it makes the house feel nice and cosey.0

A few nights ago i decided to get out a pack of unscented candles ,i love candles and have usually got one yankie candle burning.Well there was 6 of these and i suddenly realised the room was getting warmer the thermo showed a increase of 4decs ,i used them again last night and even Oh comented it was geting warmer.when it gets really cold they may not make such a big differance but i'm off to get a good stock in ,it's worth a try.Does anybody else use them to help with warmth.0

I often have them on instead of the lamps. It does increase the heat and saves on electric. Lovely and cosy0

I do like the idea of having candles burning to increase the warmth in a room, especially scented ones, but the only thing I'm unsure about is whether, long term, the smoke they create, increases the amount of black deposits on the ceiling, needing it to be repainted more frequently. In my book, the hassle of regularly having to repaint the ceiling to whiten it up would negate the pleasure or benefit of having candles burning.0

Good point ,i will keep a eye on that ,although i think if the wicks are trimed it should be ok .Thinking about it maybe the cheaper candles could cause more of a prob i've usually got a Yankee candle going and have not had any smoking ,i always trim the wick.0
