I've just dug out our hot water bottles as its blinkin freezing here tonight - and have put kids pjs out to warm up on radiators for when dh brings them home from gym :)

Feeling all cwtched up and warm now
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

I have found it a bit nippy around the edges over the past few nights. I think I shall be "updating" our bedding to the winter type tomorrow. We have a gorgeous feather mattress topper that my MIL bought us a couple of years ago. You litterally sink into it when its on, and it moulds round you like a snug glove, and you don't get the drafty gaps mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Kids have their fluffy mattress covers on already and I am thinking of upgrading their duvets to doubles for the winter so that they don't have any gaps!

Our heating isn't working at the moment - its either on and we are tooooooooo hot or off and we are looking for jumpers and uggs! There just isn't any inbetween. Waiting for LL's plumber to come.

I have bought curtains for the doors in the kitchen as planned, and track, just haven't got it up yet. Still need to get fleeces to line them. Finish placement in 2 and a half weeks so major catching up on housework and winterising the house will be done then.

What's your excuse for turning on the heating on Tuesday?

the weather forcast for wednesday says that the daytime temp will be just 4C! i have storage heaters so i have to plan ahead so i'm going to put all of them on tuesday night.

the one in my daughters room will go on for just a few hours as she's taken to sleeping with me now that it's gotten colder, her room never gets that warm no matter what we do to it or how much heat it gets so i'm just turning the heater on in there to keep it from getting too cold.

the hall and living room i'll leave on for about 4 hours. that should keep the house from getting too cold overall. if the temps go up again i won't turn them back on but going from daytime temps of 9 down to 4 is a bit much!

Confuzzled - can you keep yours in using just logs? And does it soot the glass badly? As this seems to be my problem at the moment.

I have just had a word with the guy who owns a piece of land next to my garage which is just a bit of a dumping ground and asked him whether I can store logs there. He is more than happy for me to do so and it solves his problem of people dumping stuff. We are all a bit interlocked as the houses have been here for centuries, long before neighbours shut themselves away and had serious issues.

i dont' have a fireplace anymore but we used to use pallets and the stuffed toilet rolls in our old fireplace when we still lived on skye.

i'm actually a bit jealous of those that have stoves, rayburns or fireplaces i'm all electric now so if the power goes out it's gonna get cold!

    yesssssssssss...........

that was the picture I used as a Profile piccy for a FB group I started last year for Real Life Snow Angels :) I was horrified to find out that our council advises shopkeepers not to clear outside their shops as the shopkeeper would be liable for people falling then - grrrrr...
