  • If your application fails, surely you cannot have been entitled to what it was you were applying for.

I'm sure that there are many disabled people failing to secure certain benefits. For every one of them, there'll be a hundred scroungers trying it on. It's these people that the OP suggests we report. Any investigations on genuine recipients will be very short.

here we go again,as i said before have a look yourself ,applications fail and these decisions are overturned on appeal, this is fact not my opinion.have a look ,you will be surprised at the percentage.where do you get your info. ,from hearsay i have no doubt.

There are 10 types of people in this world. Those who understand binary and those that don't.

Why are unemployed people not assigned Communal duties?
It would cost more to organise & supervise.

And pray what sort of communal duties are you talking about ??
Do YOU want help around the house (painting/gardening) from some unemployed layabouts ??
You might be missing a few things when the've left.

How about hard labour or shipping them out to Australia ??

Actually shipping them out to Australia doesn't sound right, as that might
not be a punishment & they might be happy with that. :rotfl:

    I'm volunteering.

The first time I was hauled in to answer the accusation that my ex had moved back in it led to my IS being stopped for 4 weeks, it should have just been "suspended" until after my interview but because the DWP did what it does best, pass the buck and blame a computer it took 4 weeks to sort out.

My ds was ill (nothing new there!) on the day I was required to attend the investigation interview, I phoned to explain the situation and was told in no uncertain terms I had to go in that day and at the time they said or my benefits would be stopped, including my housing benefit. I had to take my ill 3 and a half yr old (as he was at the time) on the bus and was made to sit in the waiting room for over 30 mins because I had no one I could leave him with.

I was asked a lot of personal questions about my private life and the reasons why my husband had left, which was a very sore point as he had an affair and we had been together for a long time, the wounds were still very open. It was strongly hinted at that I could expect a visit from someone to search my home for proof that my ex still lived there.

It was horrible, intimidating and very upsetting, and I hadn't done a thing wrong.

The second time I was called in I took a friend with me and the interview was totally different....funny that.
  • Maybe slightly off topic, but still along the same lines.

I purchased 60 envelopes off ebay last year. All envelopes had first class stamps.

When I received them, they had on the reverse

"If undelivered, please return to department for work and pensions" aling with the address.

The person that sold them to me had stuck a piece of green tape over the above on each envelope.
The persons email address that sold them to me was a DWP email address.

I contacted DWP to complain and gave the persons names and all the details. I was made to feel like the biggest idiot ever. I was not taken seriously and never heard anything back.

So much for helping people out :(

Although I agree with you on the fiddling front..

as an accountant in the civil service, you will also probably have a good idea on how many billions are being wasted by your own inefficient bureaucratic department, which includes people sat surfing the web when they should be working.;)
And the billions wasted on computer systems which never quite seem to work.

Yes, it does annoy me that some of my tax is going to spongers, but not half as much as the larger proportion of tax going to fund government department wastage. If we are all going to "un-a$$" and report everything does that mean we can replace 90% of government departments with a couple of web sites? I'd develop that for free, and I suspect I wouldn't be the only one.

Anyone that thinks unemployed people should be assigned Communal duties
or sent to a workhouse, obviously thinks they must be kept out of mischief.

Lock em' up -the unemployed I mean.
