  • I've been receiving the MSE emails for 4 years and have never posted before (because I spelt my 'display name' wrong - I'm a secretary as well!!) so not sure if I'm doing this right, but here goes ....

99.999% of the time I've found it VERY helpful, sympathetic and non-judgemental. I umm'd and ahh'd for ages about posting this but some of the comments I've been reading on this thread (I think that's what it's called?) have upset me so much that I regret reading the blessed thing.

If I do pluck up the courage to post again it will be elsewhere.

    Thanks a lot!!!

Blimey! what a first post - not sure what has upset you so much on this thread!?
  • I thought I would give it a try today, hoping for a wee bargain as it's my daughters birthday this Saturday. Tried the Tesco Extra in Coatbridge but they didn't have anything :( was gutted...was looking for the girls pj's, after 8 mints and brolly's. Left it too late i think.......oh well, well done to everyone who did manage to bag themselves a bargain.:T

You don't seem to understand the point of the site! A clue is in the title! Why would those looking to be 'money saving experts' want to pay full price for things?! Or maybe you are just a troll

Thanks for the patronising comment. I do understand the point of this site. Do you understand the difference between paying the full price and the correct price? A pint of milk can be reduced from 80p to 50p - you are still paying the correct price at 50p.

Something that should cost a tenner, and is scanned at 1p - you are not paying the full price or the correct price.

that i am afraid is wrong according to several newspaper sources who have gone with this story and tesco themselves have said the 1p is NOT A GLITCH but discontinued items that they would rather sell for 1p than throw away source of this information
yes possibly there are 1 or two items that were incorrectly priced at 1p but for the majority of these 1p items it was according to tesco spokesman correct. Unfortunately this hasnt actually filtered down to stores or they are just putting a lot of spin on the issue to avoid a lot of embarrassment for them.

I think most negative comments on this thread are from disgruntled posters who are hacked off that there's unlikely to be anymore 1p bargains at Mr T's and to be honest I can empathise with that to an extext (I didn't contribute but a lot of MSErs have put in considerable effort trying to find these and post them)

To be honest I think if you are that upset and sensitive that reading this thread puts you off posting on MSE ever again it's probably best not to post on any internet forum
  • Hi there,

Firstly I would like to thank silverhairgranny for starting this thread, I've been watching it intently for the last few days & it's been great!!
Now I am a newbie so please be kind!!
However I've just returned from Exmouth & although I didnt look for all the 1p bargains there are still chilli pots there - I only bought 4 so I've left some for the rest of you.
There's some other great clearance bargains there too, granted not 1p but I thought I would post them in case they are of any use to anybody.
BEN 10 large water pump pistol thingy's are £1 reduced from £4.97
All different type's of stationery bit's, packs of 10 pencil's, 40 punch pocket file's, photo clip's, note pads, erasers, sticky notes, too many to list but they are all reduced to between 25p - 50p & when you go through the till they're 3 for 2!
Schwartz "flavourful" Mexican Fajita packets 24p (I think these are normally £1.50-£2)
Oh if you like the "very lazy" range garlic, chilli, ginger they're all a £1.

Hope this help's someone & apologies if I've missed posted in the wrong thread.
Keep up the good work everyone, I hope that this wont be my first post!!
    :o)

this is an update to my previous post and proiblems regarding ban and treatment which i have previously posted, rather impressively i have already recieved a reply to my complaint sent to the ceo offices for terry leahy, no solution yet though but happy it was not just a bog standard reply and they are currently investigating this matter with the store involved so should get some difinitive answer/resolutuion in the next few days when i do i will be sure to update all other hardeworking mser's especially the others who have also been mistreated by staff because of this, i also highlighted the daily mail article in my reply to them thanking them for taking the matter seriously as any tesco store will say it is illegal to sell 1p items whereas the article suggests tesco are happy to let them go through.
Of course the reply by tesco staff will now be yes of course you can have the 1p items-why because you can bet they have now hunted and found all of them and removed them from stock lol.
