What!! This thread has been a discussion thread all along. Me thinks MSE are upset because there has been criticism of the weekyly e-mail. Maybe we are going the way of the Boots thread that was finally shut down.0 -
Legendmum, you were right, Haverfordwest must have put out it's seasonal last night. When I finally arrived there just before 10a.m., there were 3 assistants putting price labels on. Bit taken aback, but finally casually leaned over and picked up 2 bags of the After 8 and trotted to checkout. I'd already found some Fajita sauce, so I talked to the assistant while she was scanning stuff, and they went through at 1p. Then I stood and checked my list, told supervisor I'd forgotten my friend's coffee (honest!), went back and picked up jar of coffee (full price), 3 more fajita and 3 more chocs. Different assistant, who was startled when the total came up, I said jokingly 'Don't tell', she said 'I've already scanned them' and took the cost of the coffee + 6p for sauce and chocs. Completely forgot shampoo and toys, but I got the chocs! Does anyone know what they should be?0

Just wanted to say Thank you, we went to out local Tesco (Lowestoft, Gunton) and unfortunatley they didnt have any of the penny bargains but I did manage to get a pair of Thomas PJ's for my little boy for £1.25 which were marked at £2.50, 2 whole chickens reduced to 70p each and some lace tights for 75p a pair, so not a bad haul. Thanks for the heads up.:j0

Can anyone who works for tescos clarify the 'trouble' that staff get into for allowing these penny items through the checkouts please? I really can't understand why some tesco staff are being so very rude to people who are trying to take advantage of these bargains that shouldn't have been out on sale anyway! There have been many inconsistencies too in what tesco workers have said happens to these items. We've heard 1) they are written off and wasted 2)staff members confiscate them and buy them later 3) staff members are allowed to take them providing they make a charity donation and 4) tescos donate them to charity shops
I should imagine all 4 do happen, depending on individual store managers. None of the 4 outcomes however excuse the way some people have been treated. I think if a staff member sees the items scanning at 1p, they should let them through, ask where people have found them and remove the rest of the stock if they are not supposed to be sold.July- coconut body shop body butter, pom bear football, mini johnsons lotion, Sally Hansen nail treatments0 -

You're missing the point of Jenny's post as above, nothing wrong with chatting/discussing your success or what and where you have bought but if anyone has a problem with the content of Martin's email then this board is where to put them.

As regards swapping I'm sorry but that is against the rules due to your own safety online.

1) This is what happens
2) 3) & 4) Staffs are not allowed to purchase and are not allowed to take them via a donation to Charity.
