Grrr I'm so anoyed with myself.

Went to Tesco in Walsall to do some shopping when I saw those flashy overprices cup and ball things. I went to check on the self service till to find it was 1p!

Now I should have paid and went but nooooooooo. I had to go back and get the last two and leave the self service till with the 1p showing. The Tesco lady cottoned on and said I couldnt buy the cups!

Moral of this story is....... Shop at Asda as Tesco are mean :(

We all do stupid things sometimes! Best bet would be to buy the one quietly then go back, get the others and try to do them when the supervisor is dealing with someone's 'UNEXPECTED ITEM IN BAGGING AREA....' :) You'll know next time (if there is one )

Sorry, Dom the Moan, I mean Mon, I'm not trying to be nasty or anything but you do go on! We get that you're angry, peed off or whatever but all day every other post is from you going on how you hate this site and hardly use it etc. Why bother coming back on then?

Well to be honest I think you would then have to commit to a subscription type fee to be given exclusive information on such 'glitches', I thought the whole nature of MSE was an open forum in which people can swap information to save a bit of money, not a prolonged right to an ongoing saving?!?

And is it not the nature of the beast that the only way these savings are passed on in the first place is by people,'Blabbing?!?'
  • Hi,

I visited my local Tesco store in Prescot, Merseyside today. I went with my sister in law, my 2 kids & my nephew. As we were looking at the kids socks a female member of staff started questioning us. She asked me if I needed any help which I replied No. She then asked me why I was looking for stuff using the barcodes. I told her I was looking for stuff for my children. She asked me if I was a competitive shopper which I'm not so she started getting angry and asked who I worked for (like its any of her business). She asked if I worked for Asda which I dont. (even if I did work for them I am still entitled to grab a few bargains at Tesco's). She then stated that I must be working for Asda & I was there spying on their products!!! I told her that I was told today by a family member about a few bargains that where in some of the Tesco stores so I thought I would come & have a look. She then barked at me that if I was after the 1p items then I was 2 weeks too late as a lorry had come & picked all the items up & had taken them to Barnardos. She was extremely aggressive to me in front of 3 children under the age of 3 & I am appalled by her attitude. I am going to complain to my local Tesco store as she had no right to question who I was & to speak to me the way she did!!

I would contact head office as the store will only throw the complaint in the bin!! But head office will take action

i hope you got her name .... i would most definately have reported her to her superiors . totally unacceptable behaviour and her agressive nature was unforgivable .
  • I think this 1p thing is a marketing stroke of genius! You think about it.. everyone is going to Tesco trying to find these penny bargains. Now they must know about these items! I mean we are getting reports of Tesco staff taking the items away from customers but yet the prices are still scanning at a penny and the items are still on some shelves. I am sure Tesco would have send a memo to all stores asking for these items to be removed straight away but yet the staff only realise when your scanning the through the till. Tesco also know that we aint stupid.. we will bulk the 1p items out with full price items in order that the till people dont get a bit suss about the 20 items for 20p reciept they will be printing so when they take our 1p items we feel like criminals so we pay for our full price items!... hmmmm!

A good tip for self scan :)

My hubby acts dumb at one self scan, scanning things and bagging them on the floor so the assistant is hovering telling him he has to put the items in the bag on the weight reader blah blah ... meanwhile, I'm scanning my Cuponks and socks with a box of teabags at another till whilst assistant is distracted, and all bagged and gone before assistant even knows I've been there, lol.

    Teamwork :)
