1p finds at Tesco thread

I guess instead of sulking, you could just accept that you have to pay the correct price for things like 99% of everyone else has to...
The reason i dislike MSE sometimes is because of people like you. It's juts my opinion, but i don't think people have the right to complain about not getting something for 1p which should cost hundreds of % more...
I thought the whole point of MSE was for us to find out and tell people how to save money?! The problem we have is not this board, it is the mass circulation to millions of takers of info that people post in the hope that the small group of dedicated givers offer something they can then benefit from. Give and take which is how the board works. Distributing this to a mass of takers just blows a hole in the whole process.0 -
Am I the only person thinking that for the most part Tesco know EXACTLY what their products are selling for and can change the prices with the press of a button? Their stock system can't be so poor that it accidentally reduces things to 1p and then there's no way of changing it? Or that if something scans at 1p it'll somehow go under the radar un-noticed?
They know exactly what they are doing, those at senior level would anyway. They put things out at 1p for the same reason they do 2 for 1 offers, to get people into the shop! So they lose £2.50 on an item, but if they suddenly get a new customer who spends £100 every couple of weekso n their big shop, doesn't that seem like a victory for them?
Sorry if this seems a bit conspiracy theory but Tesco didn't get to be the size they are (every £7 spent in the UK, £1 goes to them!) by making mistakes and not having their finger on the pulse at every opportunity.
We get a bargain or 2, they get a new customer, what's the major problem?0 -
I was in my local Tesco last night (before I had even heard about the 1p bargains) and was delighted when a menswear jumper I had bought scanned for 1p! It was on the sale rail and had been reduced from £12 to £5. The girl at the checkout, when I asked her how come it was only 1p, just shrugged and said, "Sometimes that happens." :j0

Like I said in my earlier post, someone in the office actually sits on the computer and watches this site so they know exactly what is going on. It's not rocket science, surely people on here must realise that this will happen.0

I do, which is why many people like me rarely post here but instead stick to PTS. The consensus of some people on here is 'don't like it, get out'. Actually we live in a democracy where we can air our views. I didn't say I have a problem with him owning it but what is very clear is how people feel uncomfortable with his egotistical self promotion, which seems to destroy many of the small fry stuff the small fry posters like us thrive on.
It also amuses me how his defenders say we want to keep things for ourselves! We would hardly be contributingto this thread if that was the case, would we?!
You do know PTS was started by an MSEr?
Would that website have been able to start if that person hadn't used this website so much to invited people to join her new forum?
Most people don't feel uncomfortable with this going in the email IMO, more a few don't like it that the bargain they spotted first on the forum is going to a wider audience. Have you never taken advantage of an offer that you first spotted due to the email? Or do you live on grabbit? Or PTS!?Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

That's because half the staff are not trained correctly and the other half can't be bothered.
Every member of staff (checkouts, shop floor, counters, office) should be aware of the fact that a 1p item means it should be removed from sale but some seem not to know and for some 'It's not my job'.
So you can't blame the customer from cashing in on the bargains when they are found, human nature we are all looking for the real bargains.Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -

Ahh well the thrill of the chase was fun while it lasted. I cant believe tesco are going as far as banning people though, for what is in fact their own mistake! Ah well was good while it lasted everyone! I got a penny pair of socks so ner ner to Mr T!With love, POSR0

i can understand why so many of you feel annoyed by being treated badly by tesco; i.e making to look like a criminal by just trying to get some bargains. If you feel this way why dont you just avoid them? If we did this as individuals then obviously they wouldnt notice but if we all did it then theres more choice of them noticing and hopefully maybe next time handle the situation better. Im not saying you have to avoid them forever but even a month would make a big deal. Who knows they might even bring back the 1p bargains to make amends0
