Not a bad little scam.
Out of 20 people who fall for the "money transfer" gag, only about 2 or 3 manage to find MSE and kick up a stink.
Use the money from those 20 people to pop into Argos and buy a few Dysons, then post them off to the 2 or 3 trouble makers.
Still a healthy profit from those who simply give up.
Probably even more true now with Trading Standards on his back - show he is doing something (just pay the trouble makers), and keep the cash from the other 75%...
So the message is contact Trading Standards, bug them as much as calling Utopia, but don't forget to formally cancel your order via recorded delivery too - best chance of getting your money back.0 -
Hello, this is my first thread. I too have been conned by Utopia, bought my Dyson on 18 Feb and am still waiting for it. I have sent through loads of emails to Utopia and am now ringing John Ensingers mobile (like another thread suggested!). I am so fed up with waiting ....do you think we will get our hoovers at all? Have rung Utopia accountants like another thread suggested and suprise suprise they no longer have a number for Utopia!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-(0

This is getting ridiculous. Trading Standards and the police are sending everyone on a never-ending merry-go-round. Has anyone actually been to the address he purports to do business from or confronted him? It's a long way from where I live but if I don't get any satisfaction soon, I'm going down there to find the f...0

Since a few people have been able to show they did actually get the product - what's going on here?
Farming credit card details and punting out a few hoovers at a loss to try and keep the fuss down then ripping the rest off for their cash as well as their CC ?0 -

This aspect of the fraud ie: supplying a few vacs to the most vociferous customers, can be a calculated ploy to make it more difficult for the authorities that there is a crime of deception being committed. It has to be proved that the fraudster has the intention to defraud in mind. If the fraudster can point to examples of sucessful transactions, then it makes it much more difficult to prove. Clever!
For those who live near enough, the best advice is to turn up on his doorstep and demand your money back. For those who can't, I reckon small claims procedure is the best way. I've served a letter on him and the next step is court action.0 -
Don,t use this site they will take your payment with credit/debit card then send you an email 1-2 days afterwards saying that their card machine is broke and ask you to send a cheque or bank transfer which you are not covered for to get your money back, i unfortunately sent them a cheque and kicked a stink up sending emails phone calls to no avail eventually found the chap anthony/john esinger on facebook so i contacted all of his friends to shame them and also the fraud squad watch dog, rogue traders and consumer direct upto now i have received nothing but a couple of hours ago they sent me an email saying that they are upgrading my dyson dc31 to the animal dyson (next model up) and they gave me a tracking number so we,ll see what happens but i know from this site that a few people have been caught out by their scams and apparently they operate from a little cottage i also found the chaps mobile telephone which i phoned no answer if anyone can give me any info on what to do now i would greatly appreciate it.0

further to my previous posts, Northampton county court have given him until 21st March to pay, but I've not received a penny as yet. I will escalate my claim but fear I'm flogging a dead horse. Hearing that the odd person has managed to get their money back does hold a glimmer of hope, so can only wait.
I'm going to complain to Trading Standards this morning, I'd do anything to stop these robbers!0 -

Yet someone else falls victim.
Get onto Suffolk trading standards ASAP!0 -
I complained to Trading Standards both in Yorkshire and Suffolk. Yorkshire put me onto Comsumer direct, so I filled out a form of complaint to them this afternoon.
I also checked Utopia Consortium website, and find an announcement : 'Item Overview. Currently we are only able to supply to current customers'
So has he been stopped at long last? And does that mean I've waved goodbye to around £250!!!0
