  • I've had enough, after seeing this 'process' being inflicted by Utopia on many people since at least September. My requests for refund have gone unanswered so now Consumer Direct are involved as are Tradings Standards. I am following their guidance in setting up my court action.
In addition, as my Team descend on Ipswich fortnightly for meetings I intend to drop in at Bardwell with witnesses and ask for my money, hopefully avoiding the legal side of this.

Having found all this heat, I am guessing Utopia are about to disappear with all our monies, but again, .. willing to stand corrected if they prove me wrong with my refund in the next post...... however, I will not let this drop as a matter of principle now. I do not like being deceived.
  • Hi there
I am a newcomer to this site also being new to ordering on the web I thought I had followed all the rules .
on the 7th of december I ordered the dyson animal 31 from utopia you know wots comeing exactley the same as every one else no reply to emails no contact on phone. Near the end of dec I phoned utopias accountants and was given john essingers mobile number wot a shock he actuly answered,
his reasons that he gave me seemed very genuine and he promised a delivery in january, unfortunatly after 80 years I still live in a time when[ a mans word was his bond.] No More
All the best to every one and thanks for takeing the time to read my moaning. If I ever get my order I will let you know.

I've had a phonecall from Sussex Trading Standards today. I'll be interested to hear what they have to say about it all.
  • Order a dyson dc25 animal from utopia consortium on 20th Jan, the following day I recieved the usual email stating that card payment not working so bank transfer or cheque required. was a little unsure but being my over trusting self made the payment. having not heard anymore by the 23rd I tried phoning them and got the 'message box full' message, I instantly felt sick and thought of the worse. Then searched them for more info and found all of these reviews, wish i had found them before. bank can't do anything because of how the payment was made. and because it hasnt been 30days no one else will take me seriously. I doubt these goods will ever arrive. They have stolen £219 from me. I will not let this drop. Have asked for a refund and sent many emails but no reply, no one ever answers the phone. If i lived closer I would pay them a visit but as im in west yorkshire I cant.
    DONT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!
google should be ashamed that they have them on. Why have they not been removed!
  • Keeping a long and sorry story short, we ordered a Dyson from Utopia on 5th December 2010 and have experienced exactly the same issues as everyone else.

Eventually, after many many emails, phone conversations, letters and messages, I contacted Suffolk Trading Standards for guidance (where Utopia are based). I was told on the telephone that they are currently "monitoring the company". Apparently (how lame is this) the problems are caused by excessive orders and too few staff!! Amazing isn't it? Interestingly, Utopia festured in a national consumer magazine recently, so the issue is gradually becomming recognised quite widely. John and Anthony, in case anyone doesn't know, appear to be the same person. Convenient that his name seems to change from correspondance to correspondance...

Anyway, nothing has transpired and we initiated a small claim case against Utopia. Amazingly, I received a cheque for the cost of the Dyson plus the cost of the small claim. (unfortuunately no compensation for hours and hours of letters, emails, phone messages, trips to post office, worry and upset etc.).

Less amazingly, the cheque subsequently bounced. More cost incurred on my part then!

This guy is unbelievable. The worst customer service (if inded it is a genuine company) that I have ever received.

Time to contact the court Monday to see how we proceed.

We really don't need this stress and anguish right now, but it's become a point of principle. Utopia shouldn't be let to get away with this. I wonder if there's anything we can do collectively as a group? Power in numbers and all that.

Anyway, good luck. Keep at it everyone.
  • i have been intouch with suffolk trading standards on how to proceed to get refund back as i paid by cheque(dummy) so have wrote letter asking for refund if this fails then its small claims court if they are found at fault there is no law that they must pay so it could cost money to go further.onthe other hand it could be a police matter as this is also fraud. As i only talked someone at consumer direct last week they have had no compaliants against Utopia.
  • Oh yes they have - My case number is WM3579*** - that's for the West Midlands but they have been in touch with the Suffolk lot as well -You will notice that all these Consumer web portals including Trading Standards themselves use the same contact phone number 08454040506

I also have a crime number NFRC110100246*** with the Met. through Action Fraud. I am sure there are many others reporting this outfit.

I CANT BE BOTHERED WITH THE FUSS AND HAVE PUT THIS DOWN TO BEING STUPID AND SHOULD NEVER HAVE DONE A BANK TRANSFER WHAT A IDIOT! LESSON LEARNED HERE I WON'T BE DOING THIS AGAIN.
  • I have been in the same boat as you all since 3 December.

I have been watching this forum ever since, and am following the advice given. There could be hundreds of us.

How does John Anthony sleep at night? I expect he sleeps all day (switching off the phone and locking the doors) and counts his money all night.

Would like to know if anyone recently has received their Dyson or a refund cheque which has not bounced.
  • I am glad other people are reporting them to trading standards and the police. You can find John Ensinger on Facebook, makes you laugh really how he supports help the heroes some of his friends on face book are soldiers bet they dont know what he is up to. Everyone who he has taken for a ride should get to gether and go down and pay him a visit.
