WARNING Utopia Office Ltd consortium - cheap Dyson DC31 Animal - or not!

OK - this is my first post - but hold it.......
I placed an order last week after seeing a sponsered link on I think Amazon - got the usual "credit card ....technical at our end" response - did a cursory check to make sure their website had addresses and telephone and fax numbers, and paid by BACS.
No contact since. Asked for an indication of delivery time- no reply so far. Did a search and found this thread. Oh gosh - what a sea of mis-information from first time posters mixed up with real concerns.
It's really too early for me to know if this is just a badly organised slow to respond company or an outright scam.
As they are reputed in some posts as having hundreds of orders for Dysons I feel that Dyson must be aware of them so I have emailed Dyson to see if they can verify this and if so do they have contacts they can lobby on my behalf.
In the meantime I would value informed advice from a recognizable Moderator of this site as the best way to proceed in the opinion of Moneysavingexpert.com - how long to wait. The best way of positioning myself for a refund if no delivery received etc.
If the Moderators wish to check my validity please email me and I will furnish them with my order no etc.

Kind of a backwards story this.

My parents got me and my husband a Dyson Animal DC31 handheld for Christmas. It's very cool and am actually enjoying housework! We needed to register it online at the Dyson website for the guarantee and so I had to ask my mum where she bought it and the purchase date. She told me she bought it from Utopia on 5 November (which matches the texts she was sending me asking which model I was after and that she'd found a source cheaper than Argos). The name rang a vague bell from my lunchtime skimming of the Vent board so I just came back to have a proper read of this thread.

She never mentioned any trouble getting it, and it was delivered and under the tree at Christmas to be unwrapped, but I'll have to ask her now if she paid by a dodgy means or had any delays! And I'll have to tell her to check the forums before she buys anything else rather than just going for the cheapest without checking it's legitimate :eek: She gets the MSE e-mail and is always after a bargain but doesn't use the forums.

So anyway, I did get my Dyson from Utopia. However I would not have risked it myself after reading this thread!

(As for me, I've been on here since 2005, though have had a few years off from posting as I stopped being a student with so much time for messageboards. Currently just coming up to the end of my notice period at work before starting a new job, so find myself with time to kill again!)

Before you septics start bleating that I'm really John Ensinger, I bought it in Argos for £129.99. I canceled my order with Utopia and credit card weeks ago.
Problem is now my wife says she doesn't like it and I have to take it back :mad:
Anyone on here want a cheap Dyson. I only accept paypal :rotfl:

Wish I had found this forum earlier. I ordered a DC31 Animal on 5th. Website says it would be dispatched for delivery next day if ordered before 2pm. It was ordered before 2pm. I received an email confirming the order, with a link to the website. On the link, it said payment had been made, but delivery status was blank. It has remained that way, and I have not yet received anything. I have tried telephoning, but just get a message saying the inbox is full, or asking me to leave a message. I have left several messages, but no one has responded. I have sent about 6 emails, but no one has responded.
I want the Dyson - that is why I ordered one after all! I do not want to wait and wait for these characters, when I could get it elsewhere for not much more money. Anyone have any advice as to what I could do now?

I ordered the Dyson DC31 hoover on the 2nd of December and to date i have still not received anything :mad:

I have made several phone calls and sent numerous amount of emails but still nothing!!!!

I have sent one last email stating if i dont hear somethink by the 12th i will be going to the police and reporting them to watchdog.

i think i have been robbed of my money :o:o

I ordered and paid for a DC31 in early Dec and still haven't received it. Also I have been unable to contact Utopia-office by email or phone.

It started when I saw their cheap price listed on a Price-comparision website. It was £50 cheaper than other companies. (yes, I know if it's too good to be true, it probably is).
However, as it was on on price comparison website I assumed them to be a vetted/ retribal company. (wrong)

I wanted the item before christmas and was told the paypal link was down. - If I wanted it before christmas, I'd have to do a bank transfer. Like a fool, I transfered the money!

I received an email saying it had beeb shipped and that was the last I heard from them.

I have tried almost every day to phone them, but just get an answerphone message. They have not returned any of my calls.

I am also considering Police action if I do not hear from them soon.

Does anyone know where I stand leagally?

Do I buy one from Argos and claim my money back from Utopia-office if and when the Dyson arrives??

Dear All,

Like most of you who tried purchasing a Dyson DC31 from Utopia Consortium, my wife has been conned into paying by bank transfer c.f credit card. No contact possible from Utopia since and obvious that same message to pay by bank transfer is solely to give the individual customer no power to pursue the money.

I telephoned government fraud helpline today who took details and were well aware of Mr Ensinger and his bogus company.

Suggest you all do the same to see if some collective actions from naive members of the public stops this ongoing scam.
