I used to smother my chaps hair in conditioner and comb through every day until nothing came out. i found using shampoo and conditioner with tea tree in it also helped to keep them at bay. HTH

Hey Lucielle,
Thanks so much for checking in, it was starting to feel really lonely in here!!!!.
I think i'm gonna have to start with the daily conditioner/combing routine, both DD's hate having it done - DD1 has thick/wiry/curly long hair and it's a trauma everytime it has to be done )plus sooooooooooooooo time consuming) DD2 hates having it done but has short fine hair and is done really quickly - it's just such a pain and as soon as i think they are clear the little blighters are back again, i guess at least if i'm checking daily rather than weekly then they won't have chance to make themselves at home- lol:rotfl:

Shopping didn't go to plan!!!!
Keyed down my online shopping last night and stayed up to nearly 12 to be able to get it done, only to find the checkout screen wouldn't let me check out (bug on system me thinks)!!!!, so say i was ticked off was an understatement - not only had i wasted time bothering to do it in the first place, but then i still had no shopping ordered and had to schedule it into today (when i didn't want to go shopping at all) plus was really tired and realised i could have gone to bed an hour blinking earlier - joy!!! - technology is brill when it works and frustrating when it doesn't!!
So off to the shops and managed to spend £80 plus £11 yesterday, so weekly spend £91, i will say it was a more thought out shop and should have enough ingredients to make lots of freezer meals ( mental note - make lots of meals for the freezer - lol!!)
Received £10 from perks.com for doing surveys so £10 up, and just about to list at least 2 things on ebay (well i gotta start somewhere).
Worrying a bit today about DD1, in year 5 at juniors, and is really quiet and sensitive - the class is getting to the age where within the next year up there are a few kids that aren't the nicest and she has mentioned a few times on how mean some are being with nasty comments etc - DD1 is a little of the pudgy side too (DD2 is like a string bean) and what with a couple of other things she is a prime candidate to get bullied, i was bullied relentlessly at senior school and i worry she's gonna walk in my footsteps which scares the life out of me - i've suggested starting something alone the lines of tai kwon do ( excuse the spelling) to give her more confidence and be physically more alert but she's not keen - any help would be fab
Thanks again to anyone who happens to take a look and it's nice to get a bit of feedback every now and again xx

Can you have a word with the teachers to keep an eye on her. You know the basics regarding eating healthily. Exercise but make it fun and a defo one that I struggle with is portion control. Are there any sports she enjoys and you can afford?

hey lucielle,
At the moment i'm sat on the fence with speaking with school as its the odd comment here and there and she does have to get use to it (as much as it pains me as i'm guilty of overprotecting big time) but it really saddens me when she says things like 'so and so says why have i got a stupid bag, can you buy me a new one'.
As for the weight thing, i'm going to strip the cupboards tomorrow of the stuff left over from xmas (as she wants to be constantly rummaging around the food cupboards) and start getting some 'proper' meals on the table - i'm gonna have to look on the other boards on low cal snacks as she's not keen on fruit (but hey if she's hungry, she'll eat it) and work out how we can get some extra exercise in the mix.
It's completely my fault as i've done exactly what my mum did with me which is to reward with food when i haven't been able to afford other stuff and now she already associates food with comfort, which was what i did and i'm only just getting a grip on my weight issues (something i really wish on my enemy let alone my D)
Anyway, tomorrow's a new day and it's got to be a fresh start.
xx

My two do Tae Kwan-Do. Its nothing like I expected. Having visited a karate class that was all hi-yas and much shouting the TKD class is positively pleasant by comparison. Its all about politeness, appearance and body control. In fact its almost like the pilates of self defence. As a bonus should we ever go to Korea the DDs can both count to ten in Korean. Why not go and give it a try and then allow her to decide she doesn't like it after shes done a class, there are usuallly a whole lot of mixed age classes so you can join in too. Aikido is also great fun and completely different to any other martial art in that its almost all passive and defensive rather than agressive.
Is she snacking between meals because shes geniunely hungry or because shes bored? Do you have a Wii or can you go for bike rides or walks in the park to get her out and away from the cupboards for a bit?
I think every parent of a girl struggles with bulllying at school because girls are such b!tches. Even the ten year olds. Am fully expecting my DD1 to be bullied next year when she starts high school. Seem to have got through to her that people are jealous of her for having the confidence to wear clothes that are warm rather than those that look funky. It might be the height of hip to stand at the bus stop without a coat in the snow but it ain't much fun when it starts raining or the bus is late and they're really cold.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Thx Moo,
I think the eating thing has become habit with her because she's bored, we've got a houseful of 'stuff' for her to do (plus DD2 who always is there to play) but she just can't be bothered unless i acitively get everything out for her (and put it away!!).
I'm definately gonna look at the local gym centre kids classes (martial arts), i'm taking both of the girls to the park later to give them some (very cold) fresh air and a bit of exercise then off to shops to get a few school uniform bits for DD1 (first hit on clothes challenge budget - arrrgggh (keep the faith and focus when in a clothes shop - lol:rotfl:)
Later i'm gonna strip out the food cupboards with choc/sweet treats only being allowed on Saturday's (which was something i always used to do) and start getting a grip on what's in the kitchen and regulating meal times again ( i realise how much i'd let everything slide before christmas even though DD1 has been starting to gather a bit of weight over the past year when i look back)
Sometime i'm so busy the blindingly obvious stuff seems to get overlooked!!!
And you are so right, even 9 and 10 year olds can be absolute B*tches!!! - i'm dreading the senior school move - at least have until Sept 2012 to brace myself!!

Oh trixie sorry to here DD is having a hard time, i work with yr 5/6 and the girls can be so cruel.0
-
Hey Penny,
Thanks soooooooooooo much for popping in!
Girlies can be really cruel at times with their comments, DD2 wouldn't take an awful lot of notice but DD1 is sooooooooo sensitive that she takes everything to heart.
I guess it's unfortunately what the reality of life is all about (at times) but it just seems so harsh for it to be starting already.
Anyway she went off today in her new school clothes, off to get shoes tonight as noticed the sole starting to come away on hers at the weekend (she's only blinking well had them a couple of months!!!) and she was fine, so will have to wait for the day's report tonight - if i ask ' what did you do today/' and i get 'nothing, just usual boring stuff' then i know she's back to normal and all's right with the world - lol:rotfl:

So it's Monday yet again, and the heating has only just been fixed at work, so still a tad chilly - brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
So finances so far......................
My £300 clothing challenge budget took a bit of a hit yesterday as i had to get DD1 some school stuff.
It's likely i'm going to have to take a couple of things back due to them not fitting but the actual spend was £50 - had to be done!!, have to buy new shoes too but already have £30 put away for them, so hopefully will only have to add a few pounds to them.
Relisted 5 x 99p items on ebay that hadn't previously sold (not holding out on them selling, but hey who know's) as i ran out of time to sort and list different stuff and was determined to at least get a few things on!!
Need to buy a hair colour shortly too but at least didn't succomb to the nit potion but instead did a thorough combing with conditioner yesterday - gonna continue doing the combing on alternate days ( the only thing is i think i'm gonna have to do it until they've left school due to other kids still blinking well having them and the naughty nits wanting to take up residency in my kids hair - lol:rotfl:)
Have a couple of cheques to pay in today (have already been calculated into my budget so no gain there) and then need to steer clear of the shops!!!
