  • Managed not to spend anything today and the rest of the day is mapped out so won't be spending anything later.

Toying with the idea of (as soon as the kids are in bed) sitting down and watching back to back episodes of the great british bake off (or whatever its called) or sorting stuff for selling.

Feel so tired cuz of decluttering house at the weekend (which was super productive but took forever) plus being in the office.

    Decisions Decisions!!!!!!;)

  • Today the fun starts!!!

I'm on day 3 of my 'how much can't i spend' week, so far i've been super virtuous and of the £10 i had on Monday morning, i now have £11.03 ( Found £1.03 rumbling around in the bottom of my bag- yay!!!)

    BUT.................................

Today i have to go shopping at the dreaded supermarket, with the intention of only buying a couple of things!!!!!

My mum (who doesn't drive) has asked if we can pop in for some of her shopping plus i need to get cake ingredients for an order for friday - i have to stay strong - lol:rotfl:

Last night though i did dust off my breadmaker and using some of the flour + yeast i bought months ago but were still fortunately in date, i timed a loaf to be warm and scrummy for breakfast - the kids wolfed it down whereas normally they're a little indifferent with breakfast - say's a lot for home made stuff (well breadmaker made stuff!!!)

Wish me luck and i venture out - i'll report back later;)

Hope everyone else has a good 'frugal' day xxxxxxxx

Home made bread is so yummy isn't it :) I've been making bread rolls all week, and because DD and I love them, we're finding I'm making a batch every day, well they wouldn't keep.....lol.

Enjoy the shopping trip and keep strong!
  • Hey hun,

I think i'm gonna be on a roll with the breadmaker!! - lol lol lol:rotfl:

So much cheaper, fresher, no added ingredients and so easy with the timer, i've only got a cheap cookworks machine which does 2lb loaves (i presume u can get machine that make bigger ones) so if i had a lot of people around i would need a miracle (loaves and fishes maybe) to make the loaf stretch, but it is perfect for the 4 of us - i will be mostly setting the timer again 2nite for lovely bread in the morning!!

Shopping went remarkably ok, plus last night i was just about to bid my socks off on some lego for DD2 when i gave myself a talking to and stopped myself.

Shopping spends today - £9.09 - which was absolute baking essentials - i was completely focused on the list i had and money spent will have to be taken out of this weeks food shopping budget.

My lovely mum paid for coffee ( plus i had one drink free due to loyalty card) so my £11.03p is still sleeping nicely in my purse:T

Also cancelled DD1 hair appt, as she has long hair and is avidly still growing it, so all they do is cut her fringe and the ends of her hair (complete waste of £7.50, when i can easily do it myself - i already cut my own fringe in between cuts and have hairdressing scissors etc) and also used to cut her's until about a year ago when i started having DD2 hair cut into a bob (wouldn't even attempt that one!!!), so another £7.50 saved, yippee - i'm starting to get the hang of this money saving mallarky!!

Hope you have a good dayxxxx

  • Yay to you saving the money in your purse :T can get quite addictive cant it!!!

Oohhh im thinking of investing in a breadmaker with your post this morning. The idea of waking up to the smell of fresh bread sounds fantastic! Plus hopefully in the long run I would save as bread and milk is all I constantly seem to buy!

Did you buy it from argos?
    Mummytogirls x

  • Hey Mummy2girls,

Yep, Argos indeed - i decided about a year ago it would be fab having a breadmaker and then as now didn't have a lot of money, so opted for a cheaper alternative to the very expensive ones, it is fab and i've never yet had any problems other than i've been a tad lazy when it comes to using it (can i really be bothered to get it out of the back of the cupboard- ho hum :rotfl:) firmly a fixture on my worktops now!!

I've just looked at the argos website and the one i have is still stocked 442/9399 priced at £37.89 but they have a different cookworks one in the sale at the moment for just -** absolute bargain**- might be worth a look.

Hope you are having a good day xx

Hi Mummy2girls - if you're a member of Freecycle/Freegle, why not put a post on there asking for a breadmaker. It's one of those things that people tend to love or never use (I was guiltyish of the latter, but now use it to make my dough before cooking the rolls in the Remoska).

Well done Trixie on leaving your money asleep :)
  • Awww thanks for the info on the breadmakers ladies, you know I am aware of freecycle but its one of those sites ive never used. Will do now, thanks!!

Had a quick nosey at Argos and I think ive found the one your talking about trixie, may just have to go purchase one!!!

Having a very productive day at work thanks :D. Hope you are too x

  • Same here, i've heard of freecycle but never actually looked at it - i'll have to check it out.

After reading posts i've wondering if to get a slow cooker, i usually cook my stews, bolognese's etc in the oven for about 100 years (ok maybe a slight exaggeration) as i hate meat to be bouncy (if that's make any sense!!) but i do wonder when i'm at work or overnight even that it would be a bit of an gem to have - i'll have to check the argos sale out again!!!
