    MrsMcawber,

What tweaks did you make to the recipe? I'm thinking of making it tomorrow you see...

    :-)

Ahhh well - I used it as a chance to use those odd tins lurking in the store and stuff in the freezer :p -so the original recipe I got was:-
    1. 2 tins tomatoes
    2. 1 tin lentils -or a handful of dried
    3. 1 tin bean salad
    4. 1 tin red split lentils
    5. 4 carrots
    6. 2 parsnips
    7. 1 green pepper
    8. 1 red pepper
    9. 1 yellow pepper
    10. 1 onion
    11. 2 leeks
    12. 1 tin baked beans
    13. seasoning
    14. 2 stock cubes
    15. mixed herbs
    MINE ended up as :-
    1. 1 tin tomatoes
    2. 1 box passata
    3. 1 BIG tin of cannelini beans
    4. 1 tin lentils
    5. 1 tin red kidney beans
    6. 1/2 tin of peas and carrots from fridge
    7. 1 jar finger carrots
    8. 2 parsnips
    9. about 500g frozen mixed peppers
    10. 2 onions
    11. 1 tin baked beans
    12. 2 veg oxos
    13. seasoning
I have left mine chunky -it has used up loads of odds n sods that I wanted out of the way :j- it is much nicer than I expected :D-good job too as it made loads.... you know how when someone says "don't touch your plate because its hot" and you HAVE to touch... well even though I was warned it made a lot -I didn't realise they meant THAT much :rotfl:

Skint cat -if you have meat/fish somewhere through the day then you can still call it an EE day,

    Hi

haven't had a chance to get on much this week, if at all...I honestly can't remember.

Having mainly green this week as I am skint, and green days are much cheaper;) I am just hoping to lose the 1.25lbs I gained last week really!

Mega arguments with dh and mega stress, so I am not very happy:( I am also a comfort eater, so I am pretty pleased that I have managed to keep away from the cupboards, not that there is much food in them:rotfl:

Had to help ds1 cook a 7 course Victorian feast last night, for him to take into school today!! The desserts were yummy, we all sampled them, so I may have gone a bit astray, but I have been really low on syns this week anyway, so i'm sure it won't have done tooooooo much damage.

I am definitely going to give the speedy soup a go next week, is it only to be eaten on a GREEN day or can we have it on an EE day too??

Oh and not sure if it was on here, but the tip about giving the SW chips a blast in the micro instead of par boiling, is fantastic....they turn out really lovely and I have been having a plateful with onion gravy, or cheese and onion gravy, or even eggs and beans, at lunchtime...brilliant honestly! it leaves me stuffed until dinner-time:D

what were the 9 veggies you managed to get in the cottage pie ? :p

Veggies are whatever you can lay your hands on (bottom of the fridge stuff) ~

    Cauliflower

    Broccoli

    Carrots

    Pepper

    Onions

    Tin chopped tomatos

    Mushrooms

    Leek

    Cabbage

    Sprouts

    Celery

    Obergine

    Courgette

    Sweetcorn

    Peas

    Broad Beans

    Runner Beans

Not only is it healthy but it helps create the base of the gravy soup and bulks out the meal.

Topped with root veg mash (Parsnip, Swede, Sweet Potato). And a sprinkling of grated cheese before serving if liked.

Or if like me you plan ahead and want it easy prep then I often buy the prepared veg bags in supermarkets for speed (as can cook in bag in microwave). Alternatively for budget use mixed frozen veg and boil then fast cool in cold water before draining and wizzing up in liquidiser.

Can post the full recipie if anybody wants it or the bolognaise one?

    :)

    I just have a little query about item number 2 & 4?

Also if i was to make it and not blend it, how small do I need to chop the carrots/parsnips/leeks??

    Hi there

Redmel -yes -you can eat the soup free on EE too
I assume that as you can get red/green/brown lentils they meant 1 tin red and 1 tin of either of the other.
I left mine chunky so its like a stew -so I guess its down to what you prefer...
£ Note -NO -the bean salad doesn't have tuna in, I used cannelin beans and a tin of red kidney beans instead ... annnnnd the baked beans were just a normal sized tin..

I think the thing with it, is that because its all free -you can chop n change to suit

here you go £note -this is what they mean

    Thank you MrsM

Sorry to be a nuisance but can you confirm what a 'normal' sized tin is -aprox 415g or 200g ? Thanks :)

No, no, you don't HAVE to have carbs and protein at each meal, you just CAN if you want to. Only 'rule' is the 1/3 superfree on your plate. I often have a vegetarian lunch but want to have meat in the evening so extra easy is best

yeah, so you can have a veggie lunch if you want, like a salad and some pasta, but have spag bol for dinner with veg and it's still an EE day.
the only difference is you only get 1 heb and 1 hea and you have have to eat superfree with every meal, be it a meaty or veggie meal
