  • It is difficult :( i tend to bulk buy stuff when its on offer. I think i still have 4 or 5 boxes left from the kelloggs fibre plus offer that was on a couple of months ago.. I also buy boxes of cereal when its on offer as well. Ok it means i have about 6 boxes of cereal in the cupboard but at least i know i have plentiful supply!!

I also mooch around £ shops as well. My local one sells alpen light bars 99p a box, ryvita 2 for 99p, plus some of the heb listed cereal. I'm lucky to have a QD nearby as well as they sell stuff cheap like the £ shops do.

When OH had his car we would also go to asda at about 3pm on a sunday to get all the yellow sticker stuff - fruit and salad all 10-15p. Ok it doesnt have much life but it lasts til wednesday :) you just have to rummage to find the best bits!!

The thing i find expensive is the meat and fish i've been lucky to get good quality yellow sticker stuff but most of the time reduced meat/fish looks bad!! I was lucky to get some pork loins 1/2 price the other day tho... i used 6 in my chinese style pork and i have 2 in the freezer for another 2 meals.

Which £ shop are you getting the alpen light bars 99p a box, ryvita 2 for 99p, plus some of the heb listed cereal?? Thanks:beer:
We bulk buy stuff we eat a lot when it's on offer. You should see our larder - looks like it's going to buckle under the weight of all that food!:rotfl::rotfl:

the 99p shop in Grays. I havent been in there for a bit but last time i did they had some great bits!
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

    new beginnings...... new successes..

I do buy from bargain shops and reduced wherever possible, and I don't eat meat which reduces that particular cost. Still expensive though, OH working on a temp contract til January, and I'm worried I simply won't be able to afford SW then.

I also think that if you're allowed whatever amount of 'free' foods including pasta etc you like, then 20 calories extra in a pitta bread won't make any damn difference :P
  • Good to read back and catch up with everyone from the weekend.
I'm DREADING WI on tuesday! Just got back from a big Irish wedding in Belfast. 2 days and nights in the hotel were not SW friendly! Breakfast was always fine, but lunch and dinner, not great! There was a good healthy balance of food on my plate, portion size was fine, but everything was cooked and covered with butter/cream/oil
Friday was better than Saturday, as I didn't drink any booze, but last night I had lots of gin and tonic (albeit slimline, but there was an awful lot consumed!) and champers .
I did expect this, and have to say, totally enjoyed everything I ate all weekend! Now feeling sooooooooo guilty :(
Having 3 really good days until WI and loads of superfrees.
Hope you lot have been better than me this weekend!

I only have a red day once a week for that very reason.:(

Don't beat yourself up - you enjoyed it and that is the main thing.:) I went on honeymoon to Disneyland Paris and there was not a single bit of healthy food in sight - which meant I had a largish gain by the time I got back; but I've now successfully got rid of that gain!:D That that goes on will always come off!:D

My darling hubby has bought me not 1 but 4 longline jumpers, he said its to make up for not having the dosh to spoil me last Christmas and our silver wedding anniversary. We're also going out for lunch today as well. So am doing well what with the jumpers and my snow boots he bought last week :D. The jumper I'm wearing today is VERY clingy so can't afford to gain too much without it showing :rotfl:

Carvery for lunch so shouldn't do too much damage [depends if I have pudding :D].

Sorry for waffling but you all know how I feel, losing weight/new clothes and such, I just bore my family with it so don't get the same positive feeling.

    Thank you my friends :A:A:A:A

Waffle all you want TakeItEazy, I'm sure most of us will do the same when we get to target. You deserve it! I know I'm really looking forward to new, smaller size clothes one day.

Can I ask about carvery: do you just have meat and plain veg?

My local one does such lovely roasties and cauliflower cheese and gravy and horseradish that I've put off going there recently.

The joy of a carvery is YOU choose what you have and how much. If you want to be good then don't have the naughty stuff but fill up on meat & free veg but be honest who is gonna do that :D. I had everything including cauli cheese which I put down as HEa. Everything I put down as free i.e. veg including roasties but then syned the oil. But as I don't count weekends I don't know the full damage but still write it down anyway :D. So in my syn list went the yorkies [aunt bessie type ], gravy, oil from roast oh and the caramel apple crumble and custard :rotfl: missed a chocolate fix so am now craving some and the only choc in the house is 2 boxes of heros that are for christmas prezzies, hmmmm wonder if they'll make it that far :rotfl:
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Have had an experimental cooking day today!
Made the dynorod soup with a few tweaks - started it off by sweating the onion and leek and 4 rashers of smoked lean bacon, added all the other stuff apart from the baked beans and lentils, and increased the parsnips and carrots. It's lovely and rich!
Then, as we had a glut of carrots and parsnips in the fridge I made a spicy soup with them - it came out really thick and I sloshed a bit of milk in to thin it out a bit.
I must admit I didn't really fancy it as a soup.
I then put the chicken thighs on to cook as I was doing a curry, and added MORE carrots and parsnips, then 2 ladles of the parsnip soup and let it cook slowly with lots of curry powder and garlic , and abracadabra - syn free korma! The milk was a slosh like you'd put in a coffee so hea or 1 or 2 syns.

We've just had it with boiled rice and it was yummy and FULL of veg!

I'm now freezing the rest of the soup in 2 parcels as quick curry sauce ;o)

I've had a mad week, and only lost 1/2 lb on Friday, but am staying positive as this is the first time in 5 years I have gone down each week, or maintained - NO gains!

Well done to all the losers on here and commiserations to those who have gained or who are struggling.

I try to take the mind set that it took me a long time to put it on so it will take a long time to shift!

    hey ho.
