Lucy Lastic,
I think stick with it and look at your weight loss over a longer period not so much week on week. All kinds of things can make the difference over one day, as long as it is going in the right direction generally. I try to wear lighter clothes for my weigh in and not drink anything for a few hours before, just one trip to the toilet can make a difference so don't beat yourself up over it, you may find you get a bigger loss in a couple of weeks. My consultant also said that if you are starting to do a new type of exercise sometimes your body protects your muscles by storing extra fluid to start with, eventually it will even itself out and that extra muscle you build increases your metabolism as it uses energy even at rest. Think I need to build some extra muscle now!God is good, all the time

Hello everyone... I'm back!!:j:j
I can't believe how many pages have been clocked up in 2 weeks and a shiney new thread too! It's going to take me ages to catch up.
Well after 3 nights camping in the Cotswolds and 7 days in Lanzarote plus odd days a moms inbetween I have put on a whopping 5lb :eek::eek: over the past 2 weeks. Far far too much bread, crisps, beer, and sangria:(
BUT I am back and raring to go. There are lots of new faces too for me to get to know... hello everyone :hello::hello:
Some food has been delivered this morning so I have some fruit and veggies to keep me going today. I'll meal plan for the next week, I'm on my own as OH has gone to Zagreb with work. Poor man ... the past 2 days we've had 3 flights to get home from Lanzarote (Lanz - B'ham - Amsterdam - Warsaw) and he has another 2 today to get to work LOL (he missed his flight this morning too Oops)
I have some hard work to get back on track and back to the 12's again... after all that struggling to get into them I crashed back out again within days. :rotfl:
I'll pop back later with a meal plan for today.

Quick question - where can you buy pork mince?
I usually shop at Morrisons and Co Op but can't find any there. I am also near Waitrose and Lidl but have not tried there yet.
Where do you get it and is it fresh or frozen?

Sorry Lucy, I disappeared for a minute there...
I get mine from Tesco - it's fresh, reduced fat & costs £3 for a 500g pack or buy two packs for £5.
I've used it before & it's lovely made into the meatballs (seasoned with ground cumin).0 -
Hi all - have been doing SW for a while now - achieved a stone loss just before my hols - but managed to put half that back on in 2 weeks away
I never learn. Anyway back at class and whittling that down now.
With the winter approaching I want to start using my (rarely used) slow cooker so there is something tasty ready for tea when I get in. Also family eat at different times so this would make life easier.
My question to all you lovely ladies and gents is - do you have any tried and tested SW receipes that you cook in a slow cooker? I am thinking of buying the 1 pot cookbook at class next week - but hoped some of you may be able to inspire me.
Thanks :beer:0 -
Shirley, slow cookers are awesome, there are a few things I would do
Chilli con carne, cook the mince and onions in a pan then put them in with tomatoes and beans and seasonings (whole cinnamon in there to cook then fishing out before serving). I have done a chilli before without the carne by using just pulses, lots of types of beans really including baked ones in their tomato sauce and then putting in some cooked prawns towards the end of the cooking time. Then you can serve with a dollop of quark instead of sour cream and some rice and some tortilla chips for the ones who aren't doing SW!
Tagine- make up meatballs (mince, egg and seasoning) and fry up to cook or use lamb and cook through then put in slow cooker with lots of veggies like parsnips, peppers etc, a little sweetener or honey and cinnamon, cumin etc, delicious with couscous
Bacon and Sausage casserole- Chopped Sausage and bacon cooked, then put in with some tins of beans/other pulses and tomatoes and a little mustard, yummy with mash or other potatoes
Lemon Chicken- chopped potatoes in chicken stock with some herbs, chicken thighs, lift off the skin slightly, slide in a lemon slice and put the skin back on. Cook in slow cooker resting on top of the potatoes with the stock coming half way up the side of the thighs, remove skin for SW meal or put into the oven at the end to crisp up skin for those eating the fat!
Gammon- gammon joint with water, onion chopped in half and a stock cube put on low for 18 hours, falls to pieces and is incredibly tasty! Mmm, mouth watering now
It is also good for thing like bolognaise for you to keep it warm for everyone to come in. I think that most slow cooker books you can get from the library would be adaptable, if you don't want to pay the money. And there are a lot of you google too
Hope that is helpfulGod is good, all the time

Thanks for this Sian - these are great suggestions. Quick q - in the Tagine do you not add any liquid? I am just imagining coming home to burnt offerings.0
