So-so day for me today - was a green day

    HEA - Milk x 2
HEB - Weetabix x2, Fibre Plus Bar

    B - Weetabix - banana, milk
    S - Apple
L Couscous salad, banana, muller light
    S - Apple, Hot Choc (2)
T - Quorn Stroganoff (1), Pineapple & VLF Creme Fraiche (2), Fibre Plus Bar

So all going well but then 6 syns have to be added for the 2 shots of cordial I had at the pub tonight - pta meeting - the only diet drink they do there is pepsi ad I can't stand it. So annoying that I could have g&ts for 4 syns each but I was driving. never mind.

1 syns - which doesn;t sound bad but I am STARVING!!!! so I fear there may be a few more to add before I go to bed. Seems too late to have fruit.

Keep up the good work girls ~(and boys)

well done on the loss this week :T

what are the lc chips?? ^^^ you had for your dinner??

Hi LC is Tesco Light Choices (or whatever they call them, their Lower Calorie too).

Sorry for the delay in replying lost internet connection for past 3 days, but back up now.

    ;)

  • Help! I am so 'saddle sore' from riding the exercise bike :o it's really hard to stay motivated to exercise!

I lent (supposed to be hired but not had any money from them :()my treadmill to someone earlier this year and asked them this week if they have finished with it, but they are still using it daily apparantly.

I have decided to stick it out until Saturday (give myself Sunday off), and try something else from Monday.

Can anyone tell me an alternative way to burn 500 KCals a day over 4 x 15 - 20 mins of exercise? Have a Wii fit if anything on that (was thinking of doing the jogging 'game'). Don't have the confidence at the moment to join the local swimming sessions or gym so its either the bike or jumping round the living room to a fitness DVD :o

Also been wondering what the recomended amount of Calories each day is to burn off as worrying I am doing too little or too much.

    Thanks

    :D

500 cals a day is a lot to burn off through excercise, especially in 20 minutes. To do that you're talking 20 minutes of running at around 70% intensity which is not easy and definitely not sustainable. If you definitely want to burn 500, do it in 10 minute stages and look to burn around 100 calories in each - walk at a brisk pace for 3 minutes, run/jog at about 120bpm tempo (listen to Heat Dies Down by Kaiser Chiefs if you're not sure) for 5 minutes, then back to brisk walking for 2 minutes. Do that 5 times per day and you're looking at ~500 calories. To answer your other question - there really isn't a healthy/unhealthy amount to exercise, as long as you listen to what your body tells you. If you run 10k and feel like you can do it again the day after, by all means go for it. If you can't, don't. Your body is smarter than your mind, trust it. Always, ALWAYS listen to your body. It will tell you when to stop.

Anyway, I'm not sure why you're looking to burn specific amounts on SW but I presume you want 3500cals per week in order to lose an additional lb (3500cals = one pound), and if this is the case you need to count your ingested calories, not just the ones you're trying to burn. In short, if you want a 500 calorie defecit over your BMR, count what you eat and eat less. In short, do the things SW tells you that you don't need to do. I lost a lot of weight (5 stone) before SW by following calories and exact macro ratios and 100% nutrition calculations together with calorie based gym sessions - and it really works but is life-consuming and very expensive. Lean protein and taking in the right amount according to your LBM (lean body mass) is also bloody expensive. SW isn't far off the right callculations even if it is very carb-heavy. Trust in SW, it will work.

If you can do some resistance training (weight lifting) at the same time, you'll be laughing. Join a gym - they will help your calorie goals too. There isn't really a reason not to, they're not expensive and everyone is in there for similar reasons so no need to feel embarrassed! It always makes me smile when people say they aren't confident enough to join a gym despite it showing that they want to change, but have no problem walking into McDonalds and ordering a Big Mac despite that being the main problem! People won't laugh at you in a gym, we're not all meatheads! We all understand the reasons for the gym being there and if anything you'll be admired for taking that step. I would rather hear 'come on, one more lift!' than 'would you like fries with that?'....

Forgive the rant - it's early for me and already been a rough day at work!

Anyway, WI for me last night - another 4lbs off, that's 1 stone 13lbs in 7 weeks :D Joining the gym has helped, weight lifting is so important for losing fat in my opinion. It's more important than cardio.
Whatever doesn't kill me, can only make me stronger.
  • Well done all losers.

I had a brilliant night out last night :) and I only had one glass of wine (6syns) and then stuck to soda water. When I got home I was peckish so had my HEA as cheese, and a small slice of HM WM toast (4syns) and jam (1syn) so total syns were 11.5. I'm pleased with that!
