    Good evening everyone,

I think i've had a good day today but i just need to find out what the syn value is of Special K berries and yogurt bar.
I had one at blood donors tonight as i forgot my banana.

Also, (and i know this is generic) but i had a chicken drumstick for dinner that was already coated in a kind of spicy flavour. Its the dried stuff they put on in the factory before packing the food.
I cooked the chicken in the skin but took it off before eating.
Does anyone know how i should syn this.

I'll try to post my food so i can get some more advice please.

Mmmmmm the Joes sausages sound scrummy. I think i'll do an order on payday.

    Hi all:j

Just reporting back on the Joe's for anyone interested - tried the pork & leek & was very impressed I normally have Quorn sausages as I hate any gristly bits (and also they are syn-free) but I had one of each & very nice the Joes were too. Quite meaty, as you would expect, and no fat present. DH had them as well & he was happy, though he did ask if we were opening a sausage shop when he saw them all:rotfl:

One good point is thay were delivered in a polystyrene box inside a cardboard box, also inside the poly were 3 or 4 frozen ice packs to keep everything cool (not that it's warm here). No signature required for package either, for those who aren't home during the day I think you'd be fine with them left in a porch or something. :D

I have decided to have a few days off plan. put on 2lb this week and am due a * week as well, I always put on before rather than during - (not tmi I hope) This week has been really difficult lunch wise as I have not been able to take lunch due to the work I am doing, I have been out tonight after work, will be tomorrow as well and plan a take away & lots of winwfor Sat with freinds. Sunday will be a big roast but my turn to cook so family will expect proper roasties, gravy crumble etc Anyhow I have come tothe conclusion that I will enjoy what I eat/drink over the next few days and when back in work routine properly on Monday will start again. I'm happy that so far I have lost 10lb which is 5 bags of sugar or 2 bags of potatoes and if I put a bag of sugar back on over the next few days, I can settle down quick and lose it again. I will choose the lowest syns and make sure I eat breakfast etc but wil not be following plan for a few days.

I'll still keep up with thread and great news all you who have lost :T and I'll be back with a renewed energy to start again Monday.

    Happy holidays to gizzy:j

For the OP with the IBS problem I would suggest a chat with a colon therapist, make sure they are registered but they work with GP's and hospitals to make your colon clear so that your system works properly. My cousin is trained and has own therapy centre and has taught me a lot about IBS/diverticulitus and other problems which can be treated reasonably easy without taking drastic measures such as surgery or any medication or without restricting normal food.
Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.

Hope some other members bring soup thats ok for vegans be nice to try some.

Noticed not many stayed for the meeting, a lot had to leave after weigh in so lots of empty seats, seems a shame, I like group and chatting to everyone:)

  • i have never bothered ordering from joe's sausages as i really am not keen on pork.
however if you are in the south , there is a guy who came to our group and cooked some burgers and sausages for us all to try .

they are made from mostly chicken but are absolutely divine ;)

3 types of sausages are syn free , 3 are 1/2 syn each and the burgers are half a syn too.

i just got back from the gym and had a burger in a wholemeal roll (HEB) with a blue cheese deli light on each half of it (part HEA) and dry fried mushrooms . yummy - beats mcd's or bk any day of the week !!

    i think i got 4 trays for £10 , a tray is 4 burgers or 6 sausages .
i know he does a market in christchurch and was on about doing one in eastleigh.

    his details are ;
    Clayford Farm
    Clayford Wimborne Dorset BH21 7BG
    01202 894221

    i think that's the right one :D

hope this helps as you've all helped me loads along the way thank you xx

Not only that, but SW is (whether it's marketed this way or not) usually used as a carb-heavy, fat-light plan - and it's very common to see people in here and at group mentioning that they cannot believe they can eat so much pasta and rice. I think that's mainly due to so many other eating plans saying that carbs are bad. Nobody ever seems to mention that they can eat as much steak or chicken as they like, since a lot of the focus is on carbohydrates. In my experience oh yes they do! So we have a calorific defecit, that is made up of a higher percentage of carbs than protein. likely on a green day, not on red or EE - That's possibly the fastest way to induce a catabolic state, where we should in fact be aiming for an anabolic state. That is interesting - am I right in thinking a catabolic state is the body breaking down protiens (for ATP generation?), and anabolic the repair and growth of muscle protein? Could you explain more about why a high carb low protein diet would cause this? (Sorry to those who I just lost with big words :o)

It's a concern of all the 'plan' diets, not just Slimming World. My highest recommendation is that people do resistance training (weight lifting, machinised resistance) as well as their cardio sessions, and also ensure that 1/3 of their plate is protein based. If you can do that and stick to the SW plan you're absolutely laughing. Unfortunately too many people (and this seems to be a major problem with women in particular) believe that just because they are lifting weight they are going to 'get big'. This really needs knocking out of people's heads. yeah, i'm one of those women! So are you saying resistance training is better for fat loss than cardio (assuming we mean cardio as aerobic nor anaerobic?)

That's just my two cents though, of course you may disagree and as a consultant I understand totally. Everybody trains differently, so do whatever works for you.

If you do want more advice or to speak about weight training, you can read a little more here: http://www.weightlossforall.com/aerobic%20exercise.htm or PM me and I'll be happy to talk through it with anybody that wants help.

Just really interested as I'm studying exercise physioloy (of horses, mind) at the moment :o

Good day today for me. Do need to get eating less gas producing veg though - I'm a big addicted to dyno soup, with dire consequences!! Are there any more nice ideas for hearty winter soups floating around?
