I cancelled our WI this week and will have to behave before next week's weigh in. I am going away for a fully catered weekend away. I wasn't Food Optimising when I signed up but I have my little book to take with me :) (syns).

I have to say that being on a wheat free diet is helping me as I was terrible for following the plan all day then having a bread binge at bedtime.

  • Hi

I've not been on here for a while - still doing Slimming World - but really struggling - I gained 0.5 pound this week and not really sure why as I've been on Plan all week.:( The only thing I can think of is that I'm sticking to the same receipes and sometimes when I try out new receipes it really helps.

I mainly do green days and love anything with quorn in it. Would be really grateful for any suggestions of receipes to try out!

So i started my slimmign world diet 3 days ago, went to my first class last night. For the last 3 days i have been having both my option b's as ceral bars (hi fi, alpen lite, kelloggs high fibre) those things are playing havoc with my insides though, i am sure i lost a stone down the toilet yesterday :). I know its best to vary your healthy extras, but i would find it dificult to get through the day without grab and go snacks.

I wasn't writing this beacause i want advice just thought you might be more interested in the affects of high fibre cerewal bars on my bowels than OH is!!!!

With respect (and I mean that, I respect your opinion), I completely disagree. Any diet that consists of a colorific defecit can have the effect of muscle tissue loss - because SW never mentions a calorie range to be hitting, it is entirely possible for someone to be following the plan properly and still not be taking in the required calories or nutrition necessary for muscle growth. It's the exact reason that SW wants you to eat Syns - to bump your calories up into a higher range.

It's a concern of all the 'plan' diets, not just Slimming World. My highest recommendation is that people do resistance training (weight lifting, machinised resistance) as well as their cardio sessions, and also ensure that 1/3 of their plate is protein based. If you can do that and stick to the SW plan you're absolutely laughing. Unfortunately too many people (and this seems to be a major problem with women in particular) believe that just because they are lifting weight they are going to 'get big'. This really needs knocking out of people's heads.

Thanks for that, you are clearly very knowledgeable.

I understand a lot of what you say, and I agree that many of us do perhaps, overdo the carbs :o and I'm guilty myself of not exercising enough due to arthritis.....after reading your post, I will try to find something I can do more regularly, that is not too painful.

The bit I've highlighted in red above, is why I'm always telling people that to follow the plans properly you should have all the recommended HEs and syns - they are there for a purpose. The plans are worked out by much cleverer people than me and you 'tweak' them at your peril.

You can cut the cost by sharing an order with a friend (or even two). They are very yummy though and will freeze so you may find you can't bear the idea of sharing them at all :D

Just thought I'd drop in and tell you about my amazing dinner!

I had warm cous cous (cooked with cumin powder, corander powder and fresh coriander leaves, ginger, garlic and red chilli) with roasted butternut squash, red pepper, red onion and cherry tomatoes, with a drizzle of lemon juice.
I also had kidney bean salsa with canned toms, beans, onion, mint and parsley.
And then on the side i had low fat natural yog (0.25 syns worth, 50g) with fresh chopped mint.

    It was gorgeous!:D
And i saved some leftovers for lunch tomorrow:)

And now i'm sipping my vanilla vodka feeling all pleased to have done so well on a night when OH is out with work - usually i get lazy and resort to frozen pizza.

Also, I cooked some more cous cous with vanilla flavouring and sweetner, it tastes lovely! Going to have it for brekkie tomorrow with yoghurt and grapes.

    :D

thanks. I love cous cous. It's so easy - you just soak it in boiling water.
I think it's 250ml/9floz water to 200g of couscous (so i used 4.5 floz for 100g) - it should say on the packet though.
You just pour the water over it, cover the bowl with clingfilm and leave for 5-8 minutes, then fluff it with a fork.
For flavour, I add various spices and herbs to the water before pouring it on the dry couscous. lovely :)
