Ah dizzy I'm so jealous. Last year I went to New Zealand for Xmas and New Year, it was amazing, and I didn't have the palaver of buying stuff for people. Wish I could go away this year.

    WOOHOOOOO

  • Hi quick post...

Blackberry-Rum - didn't find any presents, a lot will be high street vouchers this year (adults) and the kids are already sorted. There was a good find on the bargains section of MSE kids hat, gloves and scarf reduced from 24.00 to 3.00 so that was the 2 girls sorted. The website was Muddypuddles I think.

Dizzyk - I have stopped all christmas cards now. I mailed everyone last year to say there won't be cards from us and please don't send us any either as we have chosen to give to the Red Cross instead. Then mailed everyone the 'thank you' from RedCross and put in on Facebook too for the ones I'd missed. We had mostly favourable responses, just 1 not so good but I don't care.

Anyway... reasons for the post... on HotUKdeals someone has said that Belgian Choc Options are 7 for 1.50 in Sainsbury's.

    xx

  • Evening all

I've had a good day today. First proper lecture at uni, really enjoyed it. I wsa good with the food too. I had HM SF soup for lunch before I went, and took HB egg and fruit to munch on during the 5 hours I was there. Then made simple tea when I got in.

    Green day:

B - 2 eggs fried in frylight on HM WM toast, marg (1syn)
L - HM SF celery soup
    D - pasta with red pesto (5syns), cheese (2 x HEA)
Snacks - banana, HB egg, fibre plus (HEB)
Drinks - water, fizzy water, NAS squash, coffee

    Total syns = 6

I could have some more syns but I am having a spa day tomorrow with lunch included so not sure what SW friendly stuff there will be.

  • I kind of know, but it'll be rambly (because that's the way I am).

On red there were free things, eg lots of vegetables and fruit and meat and fish, then some other things (potatoes, pasta etc) had to be weighed and used as Healthy Extras.

On green there were free things, eg lots of vegetables and fruit and potatoes and pasta, then some other things (meat, fish) had to be weighed and used as Healthy Extras.

and the world was happy with these two plans, though they were a tad complicated for simple people like me.

So then Slimming World decided we could be trusted to not overeat if we were given free rein on vegetables and fruit and meat and fish and potatoes and pasta all at one time .... but they don't quite trust us enough to eat healthily, thus the law that you must have one third superfree (the things that are free on both red and green, eg lots of vegetables and fruit) at each meal.

The theory being that only leaves two thirds of the plate for meat, potatoes etc.

Which, back in the olden days, would have been what people ate - one plate, with some meat on it (and a chicken lasted our family of four for more than two meals), some potatoes, and a couple of green vegetables. But in more modern times as we have become better off and had access to more exotic food (and to ready made food in the form of frozen and takeaways, and eating out more in restaurants) we've become greedy for the wrong things. For instance, in an Indian restaurant, how many people have one-third superfree on their plate? Except for vegetarians, very few I bet. Yet in India I would imagine there is much less meat eaten than vegetables.

Sorry, I will get off my soapbox now. And my theory may be entirely wrong. :o

Thanks for that, it does actually make sense now :D

I think thast my problem is that i'll plan a day, and then halfway through the day change my mind about what i want for lunch or dinner, and then throw the whole plan out of whack. also I think there's a bit of my brain that wants to 'rebel' even thought it's me i'm rebelling against! doh!

Why not do as I do and plan 8 options for each meal and then just choose one each day - that way you always have a choice and are never in the position where you have to eat a particular meal!
