Tesco good deal - what do you think?

yes this limit has been troubling me a bit lately, as with my current O2 tariff it was truly unlimited (fair usage policy, but you never had to think about how much you use).
On the other hand, 500mb may be little for some people, but checking on my iphone statistics I see:
Received: 1.4gb
Sent: 169mb
I have never reset these statistics, so they are since the very first time I used it (18 months ago).
Also, I guess that data exchanged from my home wifi router is counted in, so I dont think I should be bothered too much with this limit.
Would be nice if Tesco was to warn you somehw if the limit is approaching.
Cheers,
Sol
It's up to you to keep track of what you're using - not up to them to warn you.
You can check your usage at any time by logging onto to your Tesco account. At least that is what I was told when I went in to check in-store on Friday.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
I'd be interested in this too... is there a specific number to call to get this deal?0

I'm so glad we don't have to use our real names on Forums otherwise I'd be too ashamed and embarrased to be identified with the following confession:

I have never had a mobile phone nor am I interested in one now but as I am redundant and am about to sign up with Employment agencies, I feel I need one to be there when I get that call for a 50k, 1 day a week job working from home!.
If I am not at home when the call comes, an agency will not wait for me, they will move to the next person to get that vacancy filled.
The problem is that apart from knowing that I have to press the numbered buttons on the phone, I know nothing else about them.
I have no interest in texting, taking photos, surfing or it making cups of tea, only that "special" phone call after which the phone can be dumped !!!.
This Tesco deal sounds pretty good, I think I may go for this deal but my question is (and this is the humiliating bit)......:
Can I just go out and buy a cheap phone and Tesco's SIM card deal will supply all the necessary to get me up and running ?
Yours ashamedly

You will need to ensure the phone you buy is unlocked to all networks.0

Hi all,
The basically have reduced all their sim only tariffs by 5 pounds AND doubled the minutes AND unlimited data for ever (not only 3 months).
Cheers,
Sol
Can somone confirm it is 500MB data for ever(not just 3 months). Im presuming as it is a 1 month contract only they can take this facilty away by giving you notice. Must be somewhere in T&Cs.0 -

Yes - if you go into any Tesco you can buy a cheap phone and the SIM and off you go.Can somone confirm it is 500MB data for ever(not just 3 months). Im presuming as it is a 1 month contract only they can take this facilty away by giving you notice. Must be somewhere in T&Cs.
The deal is for as long as you have the 'contract'. If you cancel the DD then you lose the deal. I will check the T&Cs, but that is what I was told in the store.YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

Check the cost for going over the 500Mb limit.
They are charging £4 per mb if you go over their data limit, so be very, very careful. By my reckoning, if you use 1gb instead of their 500mb one month, you will get a bill for £2000.

:eek::eek::eek:
Too scary for me, I don't think I'd use anywhere near the 500mb, but i'd still always be terrified that some rogue app is downloading merrily away without me knowing and using up my bandwidthpoppy100 -
Poppy, depending on which mobile you are using there are apps that keep a track on what you use and in any case you may have Wifi at home or work that will give you free access to data. I go no where near my limit each month and would have to be very careless to get close.

To me 500mb is a fairly big allowance.
