If you are just browsing Facebook mobile you should be fine- it hardly uses any data. I use Opera Mini 4 to browse the mobile web- it has a data counter. I use facebook and webmail and BBC online a lot and never exceed 15mb a week even when really hammering it.

Your browser may have a similar feature. (BTW Opera Mini 4 is really good)

Customer services MAY be able to tell you how much data you've used.

Hi all,

sorry if this has been posted before, just wanted to share that while in Tesco last night I found out about a great offer they do.

My iphone contract with O2 ends tomorrow and I have been looking around for a sim only monthly contract.

Tesco is offering 500 minutes, unlimited texts and data (500mb) for only 10 pounds!!!! (normally its 250 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data for 3 months).

The basically have reduced all their sim only tariffs by 5 pounds AND doubled the minutes AND unlimited data for ever (not only 3 months).

And all this on a monthly rolling contract.

This is the cheapest I have seen - note that I didnt manage to find this online - only in-store.

See hotukdeals website, this offer has been there for a bit. You can get it over the phone too. I think I have mentioned this deal before on a recent post of mine.

It is a 500mb hardcap, so if you use 1gb data, then for the extra 500mb used you will get a 2000£ bill which might be more than what it costs to get the heart attack (you will get on seeing the bill) attended to on the nhs.

Is there any way of monitoring your usage mid month?

yes this limit has been troubling me a bit lately, as with my current O2 tariff it was truly unlimited (fair usage policy, but you never had to think about how much you use).

On the other hand, 500mb may be little for some people, but checking on my iphone statistics I see:

Received: 1.4gb
Sent: 169mb

I have never reset these statistics, so they are since the very first time I used it (18 months ago).

Also, I guess that data exchanged from my home wifi router is counted in, so I dont think I should be bothered too much with this limit.

Would be nice if Tesco was to warn you somehw if the limit is approaching.

Well I got a call from Virgin retentions - a waste of space. I quoted comments from here but they were not interested.

Bye bye Virgin - hello Tesco. I asked for and got both PAC codes. I was advised that they will charge £15 to unlock one of the phones though. never mind I will check out the unlock codes forum above soon.
