*hugs* for Alfie, hope he gets better soon. I guess my main issue with BLW is that DH and I eat far too many ready meals so he won't be eating the same as us iyswim
He can sit up but not totally unsupported yet, altho he's not far off. And yes Michelle, he does have his highchair...and it is 'one of those'
Mmm, Im not sure if I should get a bumbo and tray or go straight for the highchair?? A is currently in the process of trying to sit up by holding onto things around her or her legs, mainly to play with her feet. Ive got the problem that since A was born ive pretty much lived off sandwiches whilst DH has some kind of manly meat every night. I gues this weaning lark will get my bum into gear to lose the 4stone I need to get back to my pre honeymoon weight!:eek:G Ikea do some long sleeve bibs two pack red and blue, i found theses great for the messier blw foods, and stacking cups are a big hit here too, so much so I want a 2nd set for Nana's.
I know its for the best but the thought of leaving her so long is heartbreaking wish I could be a SAHM or WAHM, its only 4 hours a week to start but
Ooohh thanks for the tip about the bibs! Will got on my list of what to get from Ikea when I finally get a chance to go there! And Im dreading work, I will be full time!
:(:( The thought makes me sick. Looking at nurseries over the half term as well as one childminder ive been speaking to.
Gtg now, have to get dressed and look half human for this trip to the cinema.
ETA: A is becoming a little manipulative with her fake coughing! :rotfl:She sticks her tongue out and really tries to push them out when she wants a bit of attention ever since she's been ill. Keep an eye out for that one SS and CAFC.
ETA (again): hope sophie's jabs go well today.
A is asleep! Ive just read the few posts put up looked at her and she's sparko! Im guessing shes not going to sleep during the film then!First baby born 10/06/10:heartpuls 6lb 10z:heartpulsI love my little family0 -

arnie - its awful isn't it, for me to go back full time I'd have to pay out for chilcare and what with extra travelling I'd end up no better off. I can get childcare from MIL 2 days a week and do a couple of evenings when OH can take charge to make up my hours though. I really feel for you x

Michelle - have fun at the cinema.
By the way, I decided to forgo the Bumbo and went for the highchair, because I figured that at virtually 6 months we wouldn't get enough use out of the bumbo...Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

gill, i would say there's not actually much to 'look into' for BLW! It's just really giving baby 'normal' food cut into pieces they can pick up themselves. So don't puree the carrots, just chop into batons so their little fists can grab, etc. Very simple, really. Baby will eat when hungry, stop when full!
Geniune BLW question here, i just wonder how you know your baby is getitng enough food? I personally would worry they weren't getting enough food? That's why i feel more comfotprtable doing it the way i am, giving him his food every meal then i know for sure with that and his milk he is getting all the food he needs
Plus I just think some of the things we eat aren't suitable for e

Som - gorgeous pic. Our highchair turned up yesterday and F looks so small in it, I desperately want to take a photo of him but I lent my camera to my parents to take on holiday with them

Hugs for Alvie, hope he gets better soon
E had an amazing night last night, bed for 7, he didn't wake till 4am for a bottle which i tried not giving him cos it was so close to the morning, but caved at half 4 then it took till 5 to get him back to bed but then he slept till half 7 yay
I am wondering if him being sick is am i possibly over feeding him????
This is his normal routine
6.30am 9ozs bottle
8.30am jar of breakfast
11.00am 9ozs milk
1.00pm jar of food
3.00pm 9ozs milk
5.00pm jar of food sometimes half a jar of puddinng as well
6.30pm 9ozs milk
Middle of night 9ozs milk
He doesn't alway have 9ozs, the last week or so he's been having maybe 7ozs each feed?
I was thinking maybe i should try and drop the 3.00pm bottle? Or would you try a d drop the 11am one?
I can't do that today cos he had a bottle at half 4 this morning i didn't give him one when he got up, he had his breakfast at 9 and don't think i Could get away with dropping a bottle today?Debt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

Presumably the sitting unaided thing is just a way of discouraging early weaning as the typical age range for sitting up is about 6-9 months and "they" say you shouldn't wean any later than six months. My OH was eleven months when he sat up and he had been weaned well before that.
Yeah your probably right, e is 7 months in 3 days and can just sit up for about 5 mins by himself (but seems to be getting so much better at it as the day goes on)
But he def needed weaning befroe nowDebt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

we fed Kian in his little chair at first. then once he could sit unaided we used the high chair.
Bumbo was a waste of money so got sold on.
Kian refuses to take any food (exept fruit puree and fromage frais) from a spoon. He has cheerios or toast for breakfast---doesnt seem to like weetabix. its hands all the way so anything he can hold is good. He ate 1/2 a chicken pie the other day just with his hands.
getting sooo much better at eating...my worries are slowly fading...although i do still panic a little:o
