quick slightly random question but I would be very grateful for any replies! How much do you chaps aim to spend/actually spend on your food for christmas day?

    TIA! :)
Erm what ever a bacon butty costs :p We go to my mum's for lunch and OH's for Tea :rotfl:
yes I totally eat 2 Christmas lunches and desserts and choccies, just call me Miss Piggy :D
Ooh, the birthday party Caitlyn went to on Saturday had one of these in the party bag... That's more that the present we bought cost... Oops!
 I wouldn't spend that on the entire party bag, madness - unless maybe the party planner is very MSE and got a fab deal ;)

Mel thanks for telling me to write all down last night as i did and she was very impressed, she said that it was the best and most honest explanation she has ever had! Lots more to do this week which im not looking forward to, it makes it more real on paper?

I also have a grumpy baby today, she had a major tantrum at MIL and would not stop screaming. she has also come across the 'mine' phrase and im having to bite my tongue with her:mad: She was put to bed earlier so i better wake her, fingers crossed she is in a better mood! But on a postive note she can count to 6!! she even done it for her dad this morning after laughing at me yesterday!

    I had mealies and butteries t'otherday :)
It must be very hard to watch calories in aberdeen, nommitynominominoms
How did you come by some butteries? Only sold in Aberdeen :p

I just remembered, I also had to buy in batter, beer etc (to make the batter nice) salad for the side, tins of chocs etc. Ridiculous amount of money to spend on one mediocre meal really!

I saved on the chipolatas since Idris' mum was there, no pork y'know :p

We don't really have a specific budget for Christmas Day per se. It just forms part of our regular food budget. We buy a few things we don't normally buy (goose breast from Lidl, a packet of smoked salmon, sprouts, a few nice cheeses and some biscuits for cheese) and make Christmas cake and pudding from stuff we keep in stock anyway. They all last longer than Christmas Day though. So maybe we spend £20 on the "extras" we wouldn't normally buy but that is spread over a number of days.

Costs here are different so let me give you a menu:

    Breakfast:

    Egg and bacon muffin melts*
*(chopped hard boiled eggs and cooked bacon mixed with cheese and mayo (you should add mustard, garlic powder and black pepper too because it tastes better) spread on English muffins and baked in the oven till the cheese melts)

    Lunch:

Roast chicken, potatoes, veg, Yorkshire puddings, gravy
No dessert because Santa will be bringing me Toblerone and Husband doesn't eat it

    Dinner:

Chicken in a Bun* and fruit/picky bits
*(leftover chicken and dough for bread rolls moulded together, dunked in egg and dry stuffing mix and baked in the oven)

This is for two and a small human waste disposal unit; it would be much the same if we were having company except I'd make eggnog cheesecake and there'd be more picky bits and a larger chicken.
Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76
    Three gifts left to buy
