EA - your mum thinks £7 is a lot to spend on her grand daughters christmas present? Seriously?!!! I know everyone has different budgets to work to but that has surprised me.
We didn't get Izzy very much last year, especially as her birthday is next to Christmas anyway and we knew we would end up buying her toys later in the year. This year i've got her a few happyland bits. A small set came free with a big one, so she can have the big one for christmas and I will get something in the sales to go with the small one. I will probably get a few stocking fillers tooIsabella Molly born 14th January 2009

It was her 'Easter' present. My dad (they are sperated) gave me £30 for a gift for her and my mum wanted to out do him, so asked me what she needed. I said a play gym and she done her look which means they cost alot. So i said that the 2nd hand baby shop does them for £7 and she cant afford that.
She can afford it, but it means giving up her fags and take out food.
I would direct her to this site, but i know she would stalk me on here :rotfl:0 -
Eep, you don't want that. Everyone needs a place they can go and be secretly secret on the net

Rhys' 1st birthday present from monster (and father)-in-law was a £4.50 huge padded hooded cardi with Tigger on, bought in the Asda sale.. I'm still mostly speechless when I think of that..0 -
Weezl while you're on please could you remind me the list of things you were told to help fergie along with his speech, jasmine still has a v limited amount of words, im not so much worried because I know she understands me and her hearing is fine, its just getting a little frustrating for us both i suppose, i thought once jake was at school her words would increase but not so far, her current words are mummy(doesnt say this v often tbh!) daddy (says alot lol), peppa (points to peppa pig while saying this), occasionaly says 'who dat' and 'baby', there may be a couple more that i cant think of right now, she does copy sounds, ie if i say uh oh, she'l make the same sound, maybe i'm expecting too much i dunno? but she is 18 months now, thank u!0

My mum did that too, she called me to say she got Lily a gift and described it to me and said it was from asda. I was actually in asda so i had a look and it was reduced and sooo ugly!
Lily only wore it once as i hated the feel of the leggings :rotfl:
I dont mind reduced stuff, but she has only ever got her that, oh and some slippers from poundland :rotfl:
Actually i take that back, she did buy Lilys crib for £40, which i am ever thankful for as i really wanted it and couldn't afford it.
She does do lovely stuff at times and thats when i realise, i do love her no matter how tight and annoying she isladybirdintheuk wrote: »Eep, you don't want that. Everyone needs a place they can go and be secretly secret on the net

Plus i have a thread moaning about her from ages ago, and i dont want her to see it :rotfl:0 -
Hello - I thought I'd stop lurking and graduate over from the pg thread. Baby Evie was born 4 days ago :j (she also has a big brother of 7 and a big sister who's 5). The elder two are loving having a new baby sister.
Smartie- I've been making the bottles up when needed so far.
E is having mainly formula feeds with the occasional bf (I feel very bad that I haven't been able to do more breasfeeds but I am exhausted and sore). I have been wanting to express bm and feed her that instead of formula but after buying a very non mse pump at the weekend I am really struggling to find a spare hour to sit and express. When I did have time earlier I couldn't get a drop:(.
Firstly, congratulations!!!!
At 4 days its not unusual to get nowt when expressing. How is she when the pump is going? Can you express from one side and feed from the other?
Breast massage does help.
But really all you can do is keep trying and it should get better over the next few days.
Hopefully someone else can add more, I'm busy studying right now and just don't have time (sorry).
Girls, can someone offer some early days expressing tips? PLEASE!!!0 -

Hi ethelsmum, guess I better graduate over too. My ickle boy was born a month ago (same day as KitKat I think), he spent a week in SCBU due to low blood sugars but has been at home for 3 weeks now.
I am bfing manly which seems to be every 2 hours (pretty much you can set your watch by him!!) but we do give him a formula top up on a night time as seems to want more and plus he then sleeps for an extra hour!! From those who have been bfing when do the feeds get a bit longer as at the mo I seem I have an hour break and would like more time to do things (like sleep!!).
I have also tried to express but with only an hour break is virtually impossible but did manage about 40ml earlier and will hopefully add to it this week so can use that in night rather than feeding as finding it so tiring! Keep going ethelsmum as sometimes nothing happens, sometimes it pours out!Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces
