Thats a great idea sammie about the freezer bags, would ones with handles work then you could hang them on the door like the steriliser bags suggest?
I was going to take powder, but I could take ready made cartons, as of yesterday E is off his colic drops and has been on follow on milk for a couple of weeks so he should be ok with ready made cartons?Debt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)

lol just realised you prob mean you'd tie it in a knot first :rotfl: yeah as don't see why not, I've no idea how big the biggest ones with handles are though, the resealable ones are huge (app 30x30cm) I forgot to say the jug for warming was also handy for measuring the water for the milton, I used the liquid because it mixes better than the tablet IME but is more expensive i think.
Maybe powder would work if you make fresh and cool down (you know they way 'they' say you should make all bottles)
Lovely photos! He has such a cheeky lil face0 -
weezl - since there aren't many men on here, you could try asking on the Jobs board or maybe start a new thread here in Families? You might get more responses that way. FWIW, I worked with 2 other guys who were both on flexi for family reasons and no eyelid was ever batted by the fact they were men. However, public sector might have a bit of a different attitude than the medical profession? Not sure if that's helpful.
Just back from a visit with a prospective CM. Absolutely loved her - she is pretty much everything I could want in style and philosophy, she's super-flexible and been doing it for eons. Is there a point to visiting other places/people just to "see what's out there"? Or just go with my gut?top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

hi all thanks for the thoughts yesterday on immediate bonding with babies and on sterilising
I have another question, DH has submitted an application for flexible working. Within 4 days of submission 3 of the senior management have asked to talk with him about his decision, in the main they are concerned about him jeopardising his career, which is obviously a kind motive.
My concern is that this (although well intentioned) is in some way sex discrimination, because I don't know of women in his position making similar requests who are asked to have similar chats.
All the conversations are scheduled during his research time and so it jeopardises his project which causes some stress.
I just wondered if any women had been similarly questioned, or if any men had made an application and how it was received?
Thanks
Weezl x
Hi, I do know that when my husband put in for paternity leave it caused chaos at his work as apparently he was the first person to request it and they didn't know what to do!
They couldn't get their heads around the fact that he was happy to get two weeks off on just statutary pay - they kept saying, 'but don't you want to just use your holiday, then you won't lose any pay'...
But to be fair to them, they have been good at being flexible - my husband's just asked if he can start work later when I return to work, so that he can drop our daughter at school, and make up the time by taking a shorter lunch break, and they were fine with that.Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

Hi Kindof - I use the cartons when we're away for a day or so, but I'm not sure about for longer as I'd guess it would get a bit expensive?
When we go away for a week next month, I was planning on taking the steriliser and powder as usual, but I'm also going to take a few cartons and disposable sterilised bottles for using if we're going to be out all day, so that we're not restricted.
Love the pics, by the wayWorking hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

Aless I only met one CM, I loved her as soon as I stepped through the door. It was pretty much the same with nursery too, I knew I wanted him to go there as soon as I walked in.
Weezl - FIL worked flexi time since the late 80's (how very forward thinking of him ) it has had no obvious effect on his career and AFAIK know one has ever commented on it. He always did something like 7am starts so that he was able to be at home with the boys in the evening and do school pick ups etc he does high flying IT stuff within finance in case its relevant0 -
thank you

I know, however I think he's made some people start thinking.
One of his colleagues' partners is now pregnant and he's been talking to my husband about it and I think he's going to request paternity leave as well, so hopefully things will slowly start to change, but I think it says a lot about attitudes.
It's all very well the goverment talking about sharing maternity leave between mothers and fathers, but I think they need to look at attitudes towards paternity leave firstMy husband would have loved to take more time off to spend with our son, but unfortunately he seems to be in a minority.

I am mostly concerned that these chats with the senior staff will make DH feel it will lead to a bad outcome, which doesn't feel very supportive!
Sami that's cool about your FIL!
