morning
had a lovely day yesterday. went to an Indian restaurant for Kian's birthday dinner. He ate a whole poppadom and then was very tired so had his bottle and was asleep before our main courses came. So we didnt use the little cake we had brought to the restaurant so he never had a birthday cake and candle yesterday, he will have one tomorrow at his party. luckily at this age it's not something he is aware of.
have all banners stil lup for tomorrow.
its weird here today as Kian has gone to nursery and we are in the house on our own.
gorgeous blue skies but quite cold too brrr!
off to Bury in a bit. might have Nandos if enough money'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
Kindof I think thats the steriliser we have and have used it as a cold water, just empty everything out, fill with cold water and put a couple of milton tablets/liquid and put the bottles in, then take out 20mins later.
Hope everyones ok, im gonna have to get the heating on tonight, i was freezing last night, i dont think i used it til oct last year, it is quite nice to walk outside in though, blue sky but not too warm so u dont get all sweaty:D
Jasmine is randomly having an early nap today, not sure what to do this afternoon yet,
Oh and I would like the survey link if 3 or MilliesMum would like to PM me? Thank you0 -
Maz - I have been reading T the kipper books but I think they'll last for years as they're nice stories and the sort they can learn to read with at 4/5 ads well.
Thanks, Henry's 'best friend' at nursery Jessica is nearly 3 so going to use a couple for her Xmas pressie I think.. (She talks about him constantly at home apparently - mind you Henry hardly mentions her at all :rotfl:)got-it-spend-it wrote: »We sterilise bottles because I thought that was to do with the growth of milk bacteria in the nooks and crannies of the bottle. I love those Kipper books, Maz! I plan to use them for first birthday presents, but I think they would also be suitable for older children (3ish) who are starting to read words themselves.
I am supposed to be doing spreadsheets for work while H naps, but I have done none so far!
I think sterilising is personal perference... sometimes if its busy at night and I forget to do it then I dont panic, as you say William is crawling around picking up shoes etc and putting them in his mouth.
OH keeps banging on about him going onto cows milk and I have to keep saying he's a bit too young for that - cue " but Henry did" from OH - errrr no he didnt (well maybe 11½ months )Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.0 -
I think that is the newer version of the one we have Kindof, but not sure it would work for sold water sterilising. I would just use an old ice cream tub then. I personally would sterilise on holiday because I guess you won't have particularly good washing up facilities to make sure they're washed really, really well, IYKWIM.
Off to do some inane bingo chatting now....:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
hi all thanks for the thoughts yesterday on immediate bonding with babies and on sterilising
I have another question, DH has submitted an application for flexible working. Within 4 days of submission 3 of the senior management have asked to talk with him about his decision, in the main they are concerned about him jeopardising his career, which is obviously a kind motive.
My concern is that this (although well intentioned) is in some way sex discrimination, because I don't know of women in his position making similar requests who are asked to have similar chats.
All the conversations are scheduled during his research time and so it jeopardises his project which causes some stress.
I just wondered if any women had been similarly questioned, or if any men had made an application and how it was received?
Thanks
Weezl x

And how will i heat his milk up without a microwave?? Someone suggested making his bottles up like normal minus a oz of water then when he wants a bottle boil kettle and add the oz of water and it should make it warm for him??
The main issue is i don't know how to sterilise his bottlesmuch cheaper than the fancy pants 'steriliser bags' you can get and they have the seal accross the top so no worries about spilling, the hotel we were in had twin sinks in the bathroom so we just left the bag in one of the sinks.
Are you taking powder or ready made formula (aka will your room have a fridge to keep pre-made up powder in) we took cartons of ready made and a plastic jug to warm the bottle, it takes a couple of mins to get warm (and IME the bottle warmers you can buy are no quicker so not worth the money)Millie's_Mum wrote: »Morning All,

Weezl, the sterilising thing is 12 months but I must admit once Millie was crawling around eating dirt I couldn't see the point so I gave up, that was long before 12 months so the end is in sight!got-it-spend-it wrote: »We sterilise bottles because I thought that was to do with the growth of milk bacteria in the nooks and crannies of the bottle.
