Crazy amount to spend on any kind of computer considering it'll be worth half the value come next week.

  • For 1800 pounds, i could by myself a HD TV, a bluray player, a nice laptop and some reasonable speakers.. heck, i could buy that lot and still have 800 quid left over.

Are you trying to justify this purchase to yourself?
  • I suggest that you look at this thread, someone about the same age as you wanting to borrow about the same amount as you,,,,, it might help.

So the answer is to wear a hat?

I know the price is a bit over the top but if i'm happy to pay that and know I can pay it back then why is that an issue?

...I applied for the Halifax 0% card but once I got to the end it said i'm eligible for a £400 limit which is too low.

A Halifax Minimum Credit Card Limit is: £500

Tingate and Tombo ....hmmmm .....Sounds fishy to me!!!

Or have a chat to Cartman69 he pays EXACLTY the same amount in rent as you (Oh what a shock!) with a strangely similar income. I'm sure he can advise you.

  • Over the top, it sure is

But you dont know 100% that you can pay it back as you say you "I'm not very good at saving" so you are obviously not good with money buying over the top computer proves my point

You can only pay it back depending on your work

Why not get what you can afford then if things improve you can justify that amount of money

In your opening post, you state that you "can guarantee to pay off at least £1200 of the 'loan' by the end of November if not all of it" - and you later state you want the Mac for when your current placement ends which is in November. If that's the case, then why not just save and wait until the end of November and buy it outright - or at least have saved up a reasonable amount of the total needed and then take out a much smaller loan?
My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.
They are not a substitute for professional financial advice - but you knew that already didn't you? ;)

    Because it's all bo**cks - a total wind-up - again.

I Agree - but what I don't understand is what is the point?

If someone came on here and kept banging on about say how good Ocean Finance were for example, then you would think hmm an Ocean Finance employee or shareholder.

But I can't see why anyone would start banging on about wantin a new PC for freelancin' and in so much detail. What is the matter with these weirdos and what do they get out of fake posts?
