Want £1800 for a new computer

My Situation: I'm currently working at a library for a placement which ends in November, I earn £700 a month, pay out £150 to my mum for rent. I'm not very good at saving, and want the 27inch iMac for getting back into web design and graphic design which I have a degree in in time for when I finish this placement to apply for jobs in web development.

The cost of the computer is £1800 and I only have a couple of hundred pounds and would like to buy it soon. Is there any companies which would borrow me that kind of money right away? I applied for the Halifax 0% card but once I got to the end it said i'm eligible for a £400 limit which is too low. I can pay back £400 a month at least for the next three months aswell as selling my current computer and raising funds elsewhere so can guarantee to pay off at least £1200 of the 'loan' by the end of November if not all of it.

Would like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for your help.

I don't get why you need the iMac for £1800. So overly priced its unbelivable.

You also get discount being a student FYI.
  • Apple finance do a buy now pay in 6 months, have a look on the apple uk website
  • Yeah, i'm not a student anymore. Lol, I want a mac, simple, not getting into the Mac v PC argument.

Will have a look at their finance, didnt know you could pay in six months.

    Thanks.

Don't blame you i had a pc all the way up until i was 30,there is no way i would ever go back to a virus loving pc..by the way mac v pc argument don't think pc users would be stupid enough to even argue tbh.

I have a lot of respect for apple machines, their technical (software / hardware) architecture, their design, and their robustness.

I however will always stick to a PC, not because I think windows is better than Mac OS - it isn't.

It's because PCs are infinitely customizable and support a much wider array of software and hardware with greater ease.

I don't like my software choices being limited (especially when it comes to games) by what will run on a PC and I don't want my Hardware choices limited by proprietary, cramped case and motherboard designs.

Then there's the price but we already know that one. £900 for a six-core PC with Crossfire graphics and 2GB RAID-0 array not to mention 8GB DDR3 RAM. Equivelant Power Mac? Don't get me started...

I have owned many cheap and expensive pc's and always had trouble with them in the end..

Macs are so much more reliable, and goes to say look a hell of lot better as well..

Well each to their own opinion, i am no expert on computers but do know that people with knowledge with computers will always put mac number 1.
