people with knowledge with computers will always put mac number 1.
I am an IT Administrator and have worked in IT all my adult life.
This is not my opinion.
IT professionals will find it hard to rate a device with such proprietary architecture and unexpandability especially when it comes to a corporate environment.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Of course, macs don't crash.. they just take 'suspicious' amounts of time to boot up occasionally.Seems strange not had one problem with my mac though.
Like i said everyone to their own.
I'm using my nice Dell Studio 17 at the moment, it's 2 years old, great for web design and cost me 400 quid.
Want a big screen? Get one of these: http://www.dabs.com/products/benq-g2420hd-24--widescreen-1920-x-1080-hdmi-dvi-d-vga-lcd-monitor-65FD.html
You could then combine it with a Mac Mini .. http://www.dabs.com/products/apple-mac-mini-core-2-duo-2-53ghz-4gb-320gb-dvd---rw-bluetooth-2-1-edr-macos-x-10-6-69KS.html?refs=50336
For the money, i'd rather have this though.. http://www.dabs.com/products/hp-pavilion-slimline-s5535uk-desktop-pc-73CL.html0 -
Don't blame you i had a pc all the way up until i was 30,there is no way i would ever go back to a virus loving pc..
You don't have to run Windows in a PC ... you can hack Intel based versions of MacOS if you really want to.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

My Situation: I'm currently working at a library for a placement which ends in November, I earn £700 a month, pay out £150 to my mum for rent. I'm not very good at saving, and want the 27inch iMac for getting back into web design and graphic design which I have a degree in in time for when I finish this placement to apply for jobs in web development.
The cost of the computer is £1800 and I only have a couple of hundred pounds and would like to buy it soon. Is there any companies which would borrow me that kind of money right away? I applied for the Halifax 0% card but once I got to the end it said i'm eligible for a £400 limit which is too low. I can pay back £400 a month at least for the next three months aswell as selling my current computer and raising funds elsewhere so can guarantee to pay off at least £1200 of the 'loan' by the end of November if not all of it.
Would like to hear your thoughts.
Thanks for your help.
You remind me of Tom!0 -
Are you hoping to work freelance? If so then I can understand your need. Otherwise, it's the responsibility of the company to provide you with the kit you need for your work.
On top of the cost of the Mac, don't forget that you'll need to buy software too - if you're looking at Adobe, then you need to throw a fair whack at that alone! My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

Why not get the 21.5" iMac and spend £1,000 rather than spending an extra £800 on the 27"? I can certainly understand why you want Mac if you're in design but I don't really see why you also need the biggest monitor.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

I want it to watch films on too aswell as playing games in my spare time. I may have a dabble into freelance while looking for work too so will need it at home, I want to be able to work on it outside of working hours too.0
